CBORD and ASSA ABLOY integrate access control software and IP locks

Companies' integration allows IP locks to be monitored and managed through CS Access application

Thursday, June 14, 2012 - Ithaca, New York—The CBORD Group, Inc., the leading provider of campus card and integrated security solutions to colleges and universities, and ASSA ABLOY, the global leader in door opening solutions, today announced the release of a powerful integration between CBORD’s CS Access access control software solution and IP-enabled locks from ASSA ABLOY Group brands SARGENT and Corbin Russwin. With a variety of WiFi and Power-over-Ethernet (PoE) models available, these locks are designed to fit a broad range of security needs for campuses and facilities.

Robust Security and Cost-Effective Solutions for Door Access
ASSA ABLOY’s range of intelligent IP-enabled locks includes SARGENT Passport 1000 and Profile Series, as well as Corbin Russwin Access 700 and Access 800 locks. The locks offer universities a powerful combination of robust security and straightforward, cost-effective installation. WiFi locks enable access control in locations where it would be difficult or cost-prohibitive to install wired locks, while PoE locks conveniently utilize existing network infrastructure for both lock power and secure access data. All of these powerful, IP-enabled locks offer configurable alarm notification, local decision making at the lock, and proven ANSI/BHMA Grade 1 lock hardware.

“The WiFi locks have been a great fit in our Athletics department,” says James Garcia, Manager, Maintenance and Construction Services, University of Mary Hardin-Baylor. “Our students and coaches love the convenience of not having to check out keys. The locks give us greater security than metal keys, they let us track who goes in and out of the locker rooms, and they are easy to install on surfaces where it is difficult to run cable.”

Seamless Integration for Efficient Door Lock Management
Through integration with CS Access, the locks can be easily monitored and managed from within the CS Access application—there is no need for system administrators to switch between multiple software systems or user interfaces.

“Our customers need to tailor their access control solutions to widely varying buildings and campuses. The addition of these IP-enabled locks from ASSA ABLOY gives them the flexibility they want without sacrificing security,” says Read Winkelman, Vice President of Sales, The CBORD Group, Inc. “They are easy to install; they offer WiFi, PoE, and offline operation; and, thanks to their integration with CS Access, they are easy to manage. We’re excited about offering our customers these new solutions.”

“The CBORD CS Access platform is a perfect complement to our IP-enabled locks. Together, we can offer a fully integrated IP-enabled solution designed specifically to meet the needs of today’s campuses,” says Martin Huddart, Vice President of Electronic Technologies, ASSA ABLOY Americas. “This integration provides a flexible, scalable solution to assure the proper security levels for campuses or facilities of any size.”
