Visualant names Ichiro Takesako to board of directors

Sumitomo Precision Products manager of business development fills vacancy

Seattle, April 8, 2013 – Visualant, Inc. – an industry-leading provider of chromatic-based authentication, identification and diagnostic solutions with its proprietary ChromaID technology, today announced that Ichiro Takesako has been named to its Board of Directors. Mr. Takesako fills one of the vacancies created by the recent resignations of our long-term Japanese directors Dr. Masahiro Kawahata and Mr. Yoshitami Arai.

Mr. Takesako has held executive positions with Sumitomo Precision Products Co., Ltd (“SPP”) from 1983. He currently serves as General Manager of Business Development Department. Mr. Takesako graduated from Waseda University, Tokyo, Japan where he majored in Social Science and graduated with a Degree of Bachelor of Social Science. During his career at SPP, Mr. Takesako served executive positions with SPP subsidiaries in England and the United States. Mr. Takesako was appointed to the Board in connection with the Company entering into a Joint Research and Product Development Agreement with SPP on May 31, 2012 and recently extended through the end of 2013, the investment by SPP in the Company, and the Company and SPP entering into a License Agreement for selected Asian markets.
