Smiths Detection's eqo is an innovative solution to people screening. Using its unique flat-panel millimeter-wave technology, the body imaging system offers state-of-the-art imaging and detection capability within a minimal footprint. The 3D scanning system provides a rapid means of detecting threat objects using its high resolution, real-time, full motion display. Acting as an electronically configurable lens, the panel scans a large cubic volume. This ensures that the person being scanned always remains in focus. The combination of a small footprint with a reversible design means the system can be easily integrated into any current checkpoint configuration. The open plan design offers a positive user experience and facilitates ease of communication between the operator and person being screened. The remote operator is provided with a real time movie-like image of the person being scanned.

- Product From 3DX-RAY
Loughborough, UK – 3DX-RAY, the x-ray inspection specialist, has today announced a new software system for its portable x-ray scanning equipment that could help make security operatives even safer during threat detection. The new software, ThreatSpect, has been designed for even simpler navigation and ease of use during critical security situations where precision and speed is vital.
- Product From VOTI Inc.
MONTREAL, Sept. 4, 2012 /CNW Telbec/ – VOTI Inc., a developer of latest-generation x-ray security systems, announced today that its 3-D perspective XR3D-6 system has been qualified through Transport Canada’s Screening Equipment Qualification Approval Process (QAP) for Air Cargo Security (ACS) and will now be included on the Qualified Equipment and Services List applicable to the ACS program. Transport Canada’s Air Cargo Security Program is a similar program to the U.S. TSA Certified Cargo Screening Program (CCSP).
- Product From Morpho Detection Inc.
Morpho Detection Inc.’s CTX 9800 DSi explosives detection system (EDS) has been certified by the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) in a high-speed configuration that processes in excess of 40 percent more bags than its fastest previously-certified system while continuing to provide high-resolution 3D imaging with the innovative data acquisition system. The system offers operators the possibility of reduced operational costs through simplification of baggage handling infrastructure, reduced maintenance requirements and fewer manual alarm resolutions, while speeding more cleared bags to aircraft faster.
- Product From Rapiscan Systems
The Rapiscan Eagle A1000 X-ray system performs comprehensive inspection of air cargo containers and pallets. In a matter of seconds, the system automatically scans air cargo containers and pallets as they move through the portal unit on a conveyor system or as they are towed through on dollies. An inspector evaluates the resulting image to find hidden contraband, such as explosives, weapons and narcotics. The system has recently been added to the U.S. Transportation Security Administration's Air Cargo Screening Qualified Technology List.
- Product From American Science & Engineering
American Science and Engineering Inc.'s MobileSearch High-Energy (HE) cargo and vehicle inspection system features both high-energy transmission and proprietary Z Backscatter X-ray imaging for detecting threats and contraband including weapons, explosives, drugs and currency. The system offers multiple scan modes for high speed scanning of passenger vehicles or oversized or odd-shaped cargo in either "drive-by" mode to scan stationary objects, or "portal" mode to scan vehicles as they drive past. The system is ideal for homeland security and drug interception missions at seaports, border crossings and other checkpoints.
- Product From Brijot Imaging Systems Inc.
Brijot Imaging Systems Inc.'s SafeScreen and MobileScan products feature the supplier's GEN 2 millimeter wave technology, which readily detects metallic and non-metallic concealed objects under or in a person's clothes such as liquids, explosives, weapons, drugs or cash. The system is able to do so without emitting any radiation or energy, making them safe, while also protecting personal privacy, since no anatomical details are revealed. SafeScreen (pictured) is designed for airports and other facilities that have limited space to incorporate large-scale technologies. MobileScan is a self-contained unit on wheels. It can be easily moved, plugged in and operational within minutes of arrival at any location. It is ideal for both primary screening and secondary screening, or for use in conjunction with intelligence for random screening.
- Product From L3 Communications Security & Detection Systems
L-3 Security & Detection Systems' ACX 6.4-MV is a checkpoint screening system that combines the supplier's automated explosives detection technology with multi-view X-ray screening. This enables security personnel to detect explosives and other suspicious objects more accurately. The upgradeable unit is available in one-, two- or three-view configurations. The unit presents high-clarity images that allow operators to quickly spot weapons or other prohibited objects. The system's explosives detection technology processes bag images in real-time and automatically alerts operators to suspected explosives. The three-view system delivers enhanced explosives detection, including automated detection of liquids, a growing focus of checkpoint screening efforts.
- Product From American Science & Engineering
American Science & Engineering (AS&E) is showcasing its Gemini Parcel Inspection Systems (right), the Gemini7555, Gemini100100 and the Gemini 6040. The systems enable end-users to inspect everything from mail, baggage and break-bulk cargo within mailrooms, lobbies, checkpoints, airports, high-threat facilities and other security-sensitive areas. The system combines multiple technologies - the supplier's proprietary ZBackscatter X-ray technology and dual-energy transmission. Operators simultaneously view two images, a Z Backscatter image and a dual-energy image, increasing the likelihood of finding hidden illegal materials.
