Sans Digital's 6G rackmount SAS Expansion JBOD storage system

City of Industry, California, June 12, 2012 - Sans Digital, a leading provider of high performance storage subsystems, is proud to announce its latest full line of cost-effective 6G rackmount SAS Expansion JBOD storage system with the following new models: ES316X6+BS (3U 16-bay), ES424X6+BS (4U 24-bay), and the ES224X6+BS (2U 24-bay for 2.5' Hard drives). All new EliteStor Mini-SAS models support 6G SAS and SATA hard drives with a maximum bandwidth of 24Gbps when used with a 6Gbp controller.

The 6G technology was developed to address the increasing demand for greater data transfer speed in order to cope with the new IO performance requirement needed for information technology, virtual computing and video editing applications. The previous generation's 3Gbps SAS Expander performance is limited to 1200MB/s in data transfer bandwidth and generates approximately 700MB/s in RAID 6 environment. When paired with a 6Gbps RAID controller card such as LSI MegaRAID 9285 series or Areca ARC-1882 series RAID HBA, the maximum data transfer bandwidth is doubled to 2400MB/s* with performance tripled to 1700MB/s* in read (1500MB/s* in write).

In addition to the outstanding performance, the ES316X6+BS, ES424X6+BS and the ES224X6+BS allow users to daisy-chain multiple units together, supporting up to a maximum of 120 hard drives using one single RAID HBA with SAS expansion capability. All models also support SGPIO enabling the HBA controller to access real-time system/health information regarding the ES316X6+BS / ES424X6+BS / ES224X6+BS and each of the hard drives installed in the unit. Without any expansion unit, the ES424X6+BS(4U-24) is capable of supporting up to 72TB of storage capacity in one single unit and allows up to two hard drives to fail without data loss when RAID 6 is implemented. All Sans Digital EliteStor ES series 6G SAS expansion JBOD models are also backward compatible with 3G RAID HBA allowing immediate deployment and future upgrade capability to 6Gbps.

6Gbps SAS technology is currently widely implemented in a direct attached storage topology where ultra fast data transfer rate is needed between the host server/computer and its storage.
"The ES316X6+BS, ES424X6+BS, and ES224X6+BS are fast, reliable, affordable and yet simple to use which in turn provides our customers a maximum return on investment and lower total cost of ownership." said Stanley Chan, Director of Business Development of Sans Digital.
