Company's iCLASS SE platform now includes support for the Open Supervised Device Protocol

IRVINE, Calif., September 10, 2012 – HID Global, a worldwide leader in secure identity solutions, announced today that the company has enhanced its iCLASS SE platform with two new additions: the standards-based iCLASS Seos credential for improved security, privacy and portability; and support for the industry-standard Open Supervised Device Protocol (OSDP) for secure, bi-directional communications of interconnected devices. The additions are the latest in a wide variety of planned enhancements as HID Global continues to leverage its iCLASS SE platform to deliver new capabilities for meeting current and future access control requirements.

“Our award-winning iCLASS SE platform has become the new benchmark for highly adaptable, interoperable and secure access control solutions across a broad continuum of application requirements,” said John Fenske, vice president of product marketing with HID Global. “Its rapid adoption is a testament to the growing importance that customers place on being able to future-proof their access control infrastructure using products based on open standards and interoperability. Enterprises and organizations value the assurance that their investments in today’s technologies can be leveraged in the future using the iCLASS SE platform. In addition, iCLASS SE platform solutions are interoperable with a growing range of products including commercial and residential locks as well as future access control products that use NFC enabled smartphones and other devices.”

HID Global continues to enhance the iCLASS SE platform to reinforce key features including:

• Security – The use of state-of-the-art cryptography and a secure messaging protocol for a trust-based communication platform that delivers robust security. HID Global’s Trusted Identity Platform (TIP) also ensures trusted identity within a secure ecosystem of interoperable products.

• Privacy – Data associated with a given card can’t be divulged or cloned since no traceable credential identifier is exchanged during card sessions.

• Interoperability – The iCLASS SE platform works with credentials from leading manufacturers, and is supported by a larger mobile access control ecosystem of interoperable products and technologies offered by HID Global and its partners, including NFC-enabled locks from HID Global’s parent company, ASSA ABLOY.

• Adaptability – Solutions can be easily upgraded to allow for changes in technology and applications on any combination of smart cards, microprocessor cards and NFC-enabled smartphones.

• Simplicity – Provides a single, media-independent and mobile-ready solution for all applications and environments, ranging from physical and logical access control to biometrics, cashless vending, customer loyalty programs, transit, and many other uses. Users also can create, use and manage secure identity for the iCLASS SE platform using the company’s recently announced HID Secure Identity Services™, a comprehensive suite of web-based services that help customers address every aspect of provisioning and managing personalized, secure credentials, both today and in the future.

• Open Standards – Fosters the availability of a broad range of interoperable iCLASS SE platform products.

The latest iCLASS SE platform additions reinforce HID Global’s Genuine HID value proposition to continually support customers with a wide array of innovative products within the industry’s broadest line of trusted, full interoperable secure identity solutions. The iCLASS SE additions include the iCLASS Seos credential, which features a standards-based card edge and is portable for use on NFC smartphones so that customers can utilize smart cards, mobile devices, or both within their physical access control system. Additionally, iCLASS Seos delivers full privacy support for enterprise and government organizations whose identity management policies are driven by regulatory compliance requirements.

HID Global’s iCLASS SE platform also now includes support for the Open Supervised Device Protocol (OSDP). Recently established as a standard by the Security Industry Association (SIA), OSDP with Secure Channel Protocol (SCP) provides bi-directional communications and security features to interconnected devices. HID Global has made significant contributions to the specification, and support for OSDP adds key capabilities to the company’s products including central management of readers for lower operational costs and faster and easier configuration.

The iCLASS SE platform also supports Seos digital keys from HID Global parent company ASSA ABLOY, which has launched the Seos ecosystem for issuing, delivering and revoking digital keys on mobile phones with NFC technology. Seos keys on mobile phones replace mechanical keys and access cards for opening doors to homes, hotels, offices, hospitals, universities, industries and commercial buildings.
Both the iCLASS SE platform and iCLASS Seos credentials have recently won industry awards. The iCLASS SE platform was named a New Product of the Year by Security Products Magazine, and the iCLASS Seos credentials portfolio has been selected by the ASIS International organization as winner of the 2012 ASIS Accolades Security’s Best competition, which recognizes the industry’s most innovative new technologies, products and services.

HID Global will be showing its expanded iCLASS SE platform along with an extensive suite of technologies, products, solutions and services at ASIS International 2012 in Philadelphia this week, in Booth #1509 at the Pennsylvania Convention Center, September 10-13, 2012.
