Digital Barriers's SafeZone-edge

March 31, 2014
Edge-embedded solution combines exceptional detection performance, a uniquely simple setup approach and affordability - and all without complex and costly server infrastructure

London,, UK -- March 31,  2014 -- : Digital Barriers will launch SafeZone-edge, its world-leading, edge-embedded automated intrusion detection system, at Counter Terror Expo 2014.

SafeZone-edge avoids the cost and complexity of server-based video analytics systems by undertaking the video processing on the camera. Crucially, while extremely simple to install and operate, SafeZone-edge is also one of the very few edge-based systems to receive the ultimate performance benchmark provided by the internationally recognized UK Home Office i-LIDS scheme. In February 2014, SafeZone-edge was certified as an i-LIDS approved primary detection system for operational alert use in sterile zone monitoring applications.

The solution is therefore an ideal choice for securing perimeters and monitoring sterile zones across critical infrastructure locations, oil and gas facilities, industrial complexes, transit locations and other high-security or sensitive sites.

Dave Oliver, Director UK Enterprise Account Sales at Digital Barriers, said: "In contrast to other video analytics packages, SafeZone-edge has been designed around the installer and operator. This has resulted in an intuitive and simple setup procedure with a unique function to both automatically calibrate the system and define a default intrusion scenario in one step. User-defined operating modes support additional perimeter security and sterile zone monitoring scenarios."

With its sophisticated analytical engine, SafeZone-edge is able to detect reliably and with very low nuisance alarm rates in even the most difficult conditions - including adverse weather and variable illumination - and is able to adapt automatically to seasonal changes. Designed for use on IP video devices, SafeZone-edge is launching on the market-leading Axis platform. At Counter Terror Expo, Digital Barriers will be exhibiting with Axis Communications on stand E45.

Daren Lang, Manager - Business Development, Northern Europe from Axis said: "SafeZone-edge is a very exciting solution and a class-leading intrusion detection package that provides Axis camera users with a compelling argument for embedding video analytics at the edge of the network. This is a great working example of how the Axis Camera Application Platform is evolving. In this case Digital Barriers are using Axis cameras as the platform to deliver a solution that is not only very cost effective but also provides levels of accuracy and robustness that are usually only associated with server-based applications."

Dave Oliver added: "The SafeZone analytical engine derives from a sophisticated server-based analytics technology. Yet when setting out to create the edge-based application, we focused down on features that users will actually use, day-to-day, in real-life applications. The result is a simple yet powerful intrusion detection system that benefits end users and installers."

Digital Barriers continues to develop SafeZone-edge to expand its features and provide even greater flexibility to users that are looking to deploy an affordable, high-performance edge-based video analytics capability. For more information on SafeZone-edge, visit www.digitalbarriers.com/safezone.

Counter Terror Expo 2014 takes place at Olympia, London, on April 29 and 30: http://www.counterterrorexpo.com/. Delegates can see a live demonstration of SafeZone-edge on the Axis stand (E45).
