Company’s solution combines a wireless panic button with a smartphone app and web portal to protect people in campus environments

During a crisis it is challenging to keep calm and rational. At SHIELDtech Inc., we make things simple by giving users access to police at the push of a button. Without having to find, unlock, then dial a phone, users are able to notify police of an emergency instantly and discretely. Police will be provided with personal user information quickly and track the GPS location of the emergency.

Utilizing smartphones as personalized security devices has been shown to reduce authority response time by up to 47%. However, this only applies to those who have the chance to alert authorities of their situation in the first place. The unfortunate feature of smartphones and security applications today is that precious seconds are wasted when users must first find, open, unlock, then dial and/or activate their emergency contacts in order to contact authorities from their cells. In any emergency, the difference of a few seconds can determine whether not a person can send for and thus receive help. In sudden, life-threatening situations, many do not have the opportunity to dial for help, leaving them unable to notify police of their situation entirely. Additionally, exposing a smartphone increases one’s chances of becoming a victim of theft due to their expensive nature. The goal is not only to reduce response time but also reduce the number of victims that are unable to contact authorities before it is too late. With this new technology, police will already have been dispatched in the time it takes the average person to open, unlock, then alert authorities via their smartphone.

SHIELDtech works to eliminate the small, but crucial, amount of time users waste on smartphones attempting to contact help. We have developed a small wireless panic button that partners with a smartphone application to immediately notify authorities of an emergency. After a user pushes the panic button, their device utilizes its Bluetooth connection with the smartphone app to relay their personal information and GPS location directly to authorities. We also have developed a police dashboard by which local police can view the user’s location and information such as name, age, sex, and any medical information.  Now, rather than having to fumble unlocking one’s phone, alerting potential attackers of your cry for help as well as inviting theft of your valuable smartphone, users can contact the police in one simple, isolated press. This solution can be integrated into university campus police departments, enterprise security systems, as well as local authority organisms. Parents, enterprises, and universities alike are given peace of mind as they know their children, students, and employees can have a one-touch police contact solution on their person at all times.

This device can be outfitted to nearly any type of environment. Users can attach it to their keys, wallets, purses, and backpacks, or simply put it in their pockets. We also offer additional wearable features such as necklace and bracelet attachments or clothing/undergarment clips. Whether it is in your pocket, around your wrist, or on your backpack, help can now be one push away.

SHIELDtech has designed this all-inclusive technology, including the wireless panic device, the smartphone application, and the dispatcher dashboard.
