Precise Biometrics, based in Sweden, has landed a major order from
Thailand to use its Precise Match-on-Card technology for the country's
national ID card.
The order was through Smart Card Systems International, an integrator
and service partner for Precise Biometrics.
According to a company statement, the company will see its technology
used on 12 million cards this first as part of the first phase of the
roll-out of the Thai national ID card. The company's BioCore matching
technology will also be distributed with some 36,000 fingerprint
scanners. In further phases of the national ID card rollout, Thailand
plans to issue the ID cards to all of the country's 64 million citizens.
