The National Burglar & Fire Alarm Association (NBFAA) announced on Wednesday that it is seeking comments on the proposed NBFAA Standard for Remote Supervising Stations (SRSS-01). The association must receive comments by Sept. 25, 2006.

SRSS-01 addresses signal transmission from protected premises, specifying the receipt, recording and re-transmission of signals, and notifications for emergency responders. The proposed standards would provide requirements for remote supervising stations and their subsidiary stations. SRSS-01 addresses standards for transmission methods for sending fire alarm, supervisory and trouble signals, plus signals for restoration to normal. It also addresses facility construction and protection, plus requirements of installation and maintenance, and emergency procedures.

Comments may be sent to NBFAA's Director of Education and Standards Dale Eller at nts@alarm.org. The proposed code for the SRSS-01 standard is available on the NBFAA website in a PDF document format.
