Added: 04/17/2007
SecurityInfoWatch.com editor Geoff Kohl speaks to school security advisor Patrick Fiel Sr. (pictured left), the public safety advisor, education, for ADT Security Services. Fiel was live on the campus of Virginia Tech one day after a student killed 32 of his fellow students before turning the gun on himself.
Fiel discusses emergency notification procedures, crisis management plans, lockdown procedures, access control and video surveillance -- all as applied to respond and prevent episodes of school violence and school shootings.

It is still early in the VT investigation but my general impression is that some security officials still don't get it. They seem to assume that criminal perpetrators can be out smarted or are incapable of the unthinkable.

I am so troubled about the coments people make on the TV and the news. people just dont get it they make a hero of the criminal for those who have the same mind set or on the verg of tipping either way. they then want to jump on the gun manufacture or gun dealer . i have seen many a loaded weapon sit on the bench and never take off shooting anyone. lets focus in on the poor souls who lost lives and the families. as well as the students in the hospital. that would make a better story and coulkd show what happens to those that did nothing wrong. its a shame that this happens. and we all know it is not going to stop as long as we focus on the criminal aspect.
