Passlogix single-sign-on solutions integrated into Gemplus ID Management solution

LUXEMBOURG – Smart card solutions provider Gemplus International and single sign-on solutions company Passlogix have signed a reselling agreement. Passlogix Single Sign-on Solutions will be sold as part of SafesITe, Gemplus's identity management suite, allowing its customers to access applications, systems and platforms with the security of smart card authentication. The announcement of the reselling agreement coincides with the first joint sale to a leading enterprise customer ranked highly in the Fortune 100.

In today's working environment the PC user is often frustrated by the complexity and increasing number of passwords they must remember, while organizations are inundated by password-related help desk calls that could be avoided.

"There is a growing demand within enterprise organizations and government agencies for ways to strengthen security while also enhancing user convenience," said Ernie Berger, President Americas Gemplus. "Gemplus, therefore, chose Passlogix in order to complement our smart identity management system, SafesITe, with a proven and secure solution for single-sign-on".

SafesITe from Gemplus is a smart ID management solution for both private enterprises and government agencies. Its users benefit from strong authentication to an organization's facilities and IT networks using a smart ID badge or token. By complementing the SafesITe ID management system with Passlogix's v-GO single sign-on technology, Gemplus customers are provided with a secure and simple way for their employees to manage multiple passwords for accessing applications, web services and mainframe computers.

The solution allows users to gain access to multiple applications with complex passwords by simply entering a four digit PIN that unlocks the passwords stored on the smart card. This in effect eliminates the need for employees to remember complicated passwords, enhances security and reduces IT helpdesk costs associated with resetting them.

"Securely and efficiently bridging between strong two-factor user authentication and application sign on is a key requirement for organizations in many vertical markets," said Scott Bonnell, vice president of business development for Passlogix. He added, "The SafesITe solution, which combines technology from market leading vendors, is easy to deploy and therefore delivers a quick time to value for customers."
