Choctaw Nation Deploys IQeye Cameras: The Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma has deployed more than 300 IQeye cameras from IQinVision for surveillance of gaming tables and public areas at the Pacola and Broken Bow casinos. The Pacola was upgraded from a legacy analog system; and the Broken Bow features a new end-to-end IP system.
“We were looking for cameras that would fit our current surveillance system, future planned systems and meet the needs of the Gaming Commission,” says Dan Breshears, executive director of the public safety division, in charge of law enforcement, security, surveillance and integration projects for the Choctaw Nation. Breshears and his team selected a number of different cameras and hung them in challenging casino conditions — low light, flashing lights, neon and others — so they could evaluate the technology.
At Broken Bow in Durant, IQeye cameras feed to a Petards digital video management solution in the control center, which watches over action on the casino floor. The high-quality images are provided on a regular basis to the Safety and Insurance Departments, the Gaming Commission and to the police. “It’s very impressive to have other departments so enthusiastic with the service and assistance we’re able to provide,” Breshears says. “And the stakes are high — one false claim we disprove potentially pays for the whole system.”
Paragon Casino Chooses Advanced Recording: Louisiana’s Paragon Casino Resort has chosen Synectics Systems Inc. to provide an integrated digital video surveillance solution for its newly expanded resort and gaming facility. The Synectics solution enables the video quality, accessibility and reliability essential to gaming operators, integrated with Paragon’s point of sale and access control systems. “The solution enables our security and operational personnel to anticipate, detect and respond to every incident with enhanced efficiency,” says Terryl Pierite, surveillance director for Paragon Casino Resort. “The multiple-site monitoring, automatic alarm management and advanced digital video transmission will greatly contribute to Paragon’s safe and successful gaming operations.”
UVMS Upgraded at Harrah’s Cherokee: Harrah’s Cherokee Casino and Hotel in Cherokee, N.C., is expanding the Universal Video Management System (UVMS) video surveillance network from Petards Inc., to provide the casino’s surveillance team with better video resolution and improved visibility of activities throughout the facility. A Petards customer since 2001, Harrah’s will increase storage and review capability with additional servers to support enhanced surveillance throughout the existing casino, as well as for an addition currently under construction.
UVMS is a technology agnostic video management platform, which enables the use of both analog and IP cameras on the same system. The system supports advanced recording and image replay functions, and offers a graphical user interface that enables users to easily navigate the system.
Swiss Casino Sets Sail on Surveillance System: The Admiral Casino in Mendrisio, Switzerland offers gaming as a customer-oriented service, which is embedded in an entertainment concept that interactively
combines culture, entertainment, dining, shopping and gaming. The casino wanted its surveillance system to represent the same amount of high-tech and user-friendliness it offered the customers.
Dallmeier eventually won the bid for the development and implementation of the surveillance system. At the Admiral Casino, all cameras record for 28 days on Dallmeier DIS-2/M recorders with two 400GB hard disks and a frame rate of 12.5fps. In addition, individual cameras record on a DIS-2/M with a 250GB hard disk for seven days, at a frame rate of 25fps. Workstations and analog monitor walls with several monitors were installed for the operation of the system, which can be controlled via keypad, jog-shuttle and customized graphical user interfaces. Dallmeier also provided its SeMSy Security Management System, which enables easy operation and administration of several media data streams and provides live-rendering and recording of video and audio data at any point in a networked system. Open interfaces allowed the integration of the existing PTZ dome cameras into the system.
Biometric Authentication Validates Venetian Employees: The Venetian Macao Resort Hotel has deployed VisionAccess 3D Face Readers from Bioscrypt to authenticate 12,000 employees; and the supplier’s V-Smart fingerprint readers to control access to restricted areas.
The VisionAccess readers function by shining an invisible, near-infrared light grid pattern on user’s face. A camera then takes a picture of the resulting distortions in the grid pattern and makes a match against a template. Turnstiles ensure that only one employee enters at a time, eliminating tailgating. The V-Smart fingerprint readers are deployed at secure areas of the casino. Employees authenticate themselves at entrances to the restricted area by presenting their fingerprint, which is checked against a template stored on their smart card.
