'Failure Is Not an Option' - 2007 Critical Infrastructure Protection Congress Convenes on Pressing Security Issues

SAN DIEGO , Sept. 4 /PRNewswire/ -- On October 1-3, 2007, executives from more than 12 industries will meet in San Diego , California at the Loews Coronado Bay Resort to discuss and share strategies on a wide range of critical information security concerns, including business continuity, physical security, and legal and regulatory compliance issues that affect day-to-day business operations. During the three-day event, critical infrastructure protection professionals will offer insight into response strategies arising from terrorism, cyber attacks, and natural disasters.

Fred Haise, former pilot aboard the ill-fated Apollo 13 moon mission, will kick off the event with a keynote that promises to highlight the "Failure Is Not an Option" theme. During conference and breakout sessions over the course of the three days, critical infrastructure professionals from a wide range of industries will share strategies on how they deal with threats that affect their respective organizations. The industry sectors represented range from banking and finance to public transit and maritime, and also include communications, emergency services, public utilities and physical infrastructure.

The Information Sharing and Analysis Centers (ISAC) Council is sponsoring the event, along with InfraGard and the Partnership for Critical Infrastructure Security (PCIS). InfraGard is an FBI program consisting of businesses, academia, state and local law enforcement agencies and other participants dedicated to sharing information and intelligence to prevent hostile acts against the U.S. The PCIS coordinates cross-sector initiatives in support of public and private efforts to promote reliable provision of critical infrastructure services in the face of emerging risks to economic and national security.

The ISAC Council is a cooperative grouping of information sharing and analysis centers (ISACs) comprised of the nation's critical infrastructure sectors.
