Grant will allow airport to build perimeter fencing project

The following information was released by North Dakota Senator Kent Conrad:

Senators Kent Conrad and Byron Dorgan and Congressman Earl Pomeroy announced today that they have secured $700,000 to build perimeter fencing that will bolster security at Devils Lake Regional Airport.

Guaranteeing safe air travel is the most important responsibility an airport has, the delegation said in a joint statement. By building this fence around the terminal and runways at Devils Lake, we are taking important steps to increase the security of air travel for those in the area.

The $700,000 grant is part of an ongoing effort to make needed improvements to the airport in Devils Lake. Last summer the delegation helped secure an additional $600,000 to rehabilitate the airports runway. The delegation has also worked with city leaders and Northwest Airlines to expand and improve air travel service in North Central North Dakota.

This grant was awarded by the Department of Transportation through funds appropriated by Congress.
