The Ingersoll-Rand Company Limited, well known in the security industry as well as other industrial arenas, passed a landmark on Wednesday as the company turned 100. It was 100 years ago when Ingersoll-Sergeant Drill Company merged with Rand Drill Company, forming the Ingersoll-Rand brand we know today..
"Among business mergers of the past century, the combination of the predecessor companies of Ingersoll-Rand 100 years ago today is notable for its enduring success and legacy of achievement," said Herbert L. Henkel, chairman, president and chief executive officer, in a statement about the 100th anniversary. "For the past 100 years, Ingersoll-Rand people and products have contributed mightily to the advancement of global industry and commerce and, as a result, have played a vital role in worldwide economic development and social progress."
As part of the 100th year celebration, the company's employees (all 40,000 of them will be able to enjoy special anniversary events at the company's facilities). A traveling historical exhibit about Ingersoll-Rand will also be visiting some of the companies facilities.
