Security Industry Association opens nominations for the 2023 SIA Women in Biometrics Awards

The recipients of this year’s Women in Biometrics Awards will be honored at the 2023 SIA GovSummit, SIA’s annual government security conference.

The Security Industry Association (SIA) has opened the call for nominations for the 2023 SIA Women in Biometrics Awards, a globally recognized program presented by SIA with support from sponsor IDEMIA and organizational and media partners AVISIANBiometric UpdateFindBiometrics and SIA’s Identity & Biometric Technology Advisory Board and Women in Security Forum. The recipients of this year’s Women in Biometrics Awards will be honored at the 2023 SIA GovSummit, SIA’s annual government security conference.

“SIA is proud to support and celebrate the inspiring women in the biometrics industry who are leading the way on advancements that safeguard our people, workplaces, schools and communities,” said SIA CEO Don Erickson. “As we approach International Women’s Day, this is a unique moment for our members to help set a new record of entries for this essential program and nominate the outstanding women at the forefront of this vital technology market. We look forward to recognizing the 2023 class of awardees at SIA GovSummit.”

The SIA Women in Biometrics Awards recognize top female leaders in the biometric identity and security industry. Nominees and past winners include those working for biometric companies, peripheral suppliers, system integrators, academia, government and security and IT departments at a variety of organizations in the United States and internationally.

Each nominee should exemplify one or more of the following contributions to the industry:

  • Leadership: Substantive and defining leadership in academic, public awareness, legislative and/or standards efforts
  • Participation: Efforts that go above and beyond individual company walls and into the larger identity sphere
  • Innovation: Pioneering product development, innovation or corporate startup efforts
  • Mentoring: Industry involvement sharing expertise and mentoring peers, thus growing the market

Nominations for the 2023 SIA Women in Biometrics Awards program will be accepted until Wednesday, April 5. A jury including previous award winners will select this year’s honorees. Learn more and submit a nomination here.

The SIA Women in Biometrics Awards were founded in 2015 by AVISIAN with support from SIA. In 2022, SIA became the organizer of the awards program with support from AVISIAN. The 2023 awards will be presented at a May 16 reception during the 2023 SIA GovSummit – the nation’s premier government security conference connecting government, security and technology.

Each year, SIA GovSummit brings together government security leaders and private industry technologists for top-quality information sharing and education on cutting-edge security topics affecting federal, state and even local agencies.
