Cruise lines are mandated to capture and retain IP video from cameras onboard to protect passengers and staff. Once docked, video must be exported from the ship in a short timeframe, and delivered to a data center. After video is ingested through a video management platform, it’s archived to Spectra’s Verde® NAS Solution. Verde sends video to Spectra’s BlackPearl® Deep Storage Gateway, which utilizes an object-based storage protocol. Policies are configured, within BlackPearl, to archive video to a Spectra tape library onboard. Tapes are then ejected and transported to an on-land data center consisting of a BlackPearl and additional tape libraries.
