Ben blogs and manages, “The Secure Hospital,” a blogging and resource management internet site. He is the author of three books, “Security Management for Healthcare: Proactive Event Prevention and Effective Resolution” and co-author of “Healthcare Security: Solutions for Management, Operations and Administration and Healthcare Safety and Security: Navigating a Service in Crisis.” He holds a master’s degree from Rutgers University School of Criminal Justice and has served as a security director for more than 25 years in New York City area hospitals, including New York Presbyterian Hospital, Bellevue Hospital, and Atlantic Health System. Over the past 20 years Ben has served in multiple capacities for the International Association for Healthcare Security and Safety (IAHSS) including council member, committee chair, and member of the IAHSS Board of Directors. He is past Chairman of the ASIS International Healthcare Council, past President of the New York City Metropolitan Healthcare Safety and Security Directors Association and is current chair of the ASIS International Crime Prevention Council. Ben was a contributing columnist for Security Magazine and is a frequent author to the Journal of Healthcare Protection Management. He serves as an adjunct professor at John Jay College.
