Conference/expo to move to downtown Denver; vendors honored on Tuesday

As it opened the educational portion of its annual conference on Tuesday, PSA Security Network announced it is moving next year’s TEC Conference to the city of Denver to accommodate increased demand.

“We’ve outgrown this facility (The Westin in Westminster, Colo.); in fact, we actually had to co-locate the event in two different hotels to accommodate the number of attendees,” PSA Director of Marketing Kim Garcia said at the event on Tuesday. “Of course, it’s a good problem for us to have, but that’s the primary reason for us moving.”

Next year’s TEC Conference will be held at the Downtown Denver Sheraton on March 11-15. Garcia said PSA plans to keep the event in that general timeframe for the years to come -- instead of the early May timeframe that integrators have become accustomed to. Garcia added that the new location will enable PSA to “expand the event, both the exhibits and the classroom.”

Garcia added that the PSA team worked closely with ISC West to ensure that there would be no crossover with the event from a dates perspective. “We are working with ISC to make sure that our events are always at least three weeks apart - whether in front or behind it,” she said, “because we realize that ISC is an important event for everyone here.”

After looking ahead, action at today’s event centered around PSA’s educational sessions and annual vendor awards. The morning’s State of the Industry panel had a decided cybersecurity angle, with panelists including Gunvir Baveja, CEO of eVigilant Security, Matthew Rosenquist, a Cybersecurity Strategist for Intel Corp., and others.

Cybersecurity, in fact, was the theme of many of the educational sessions.

As for the annual vendor awards, the list of honorees was led once again by “Superstar Vendor” Altronix, which was represented by Alan Forman at the ceremony.
Other award winners were:

  • Matthew Ladd of the Protection Bureau was honored for his work promoting the PSA’s National Deployment Program;
  • NDP Vendor Partner of the Year: Seneca
  • Customer Service Individual Excellence Award: Alison Smith, Windy City Wire
  • Customer Service Team Award: HID Global
  • Highest Sales Growth Award (over last five years): Milestone Systems
  • Legacy Partner Award (20-plus year supporter): AMAG Technology
  • Star Vendor Awards: Alvarado; Assa Abloy; Bosch; HID Global; LifeSafety Power; Seneca; Windy City Wire.

PSA will hold its expo on Wednesday, followed by more educational sessions on Thursday.
