Daniel B. Nickell Joins National Biometric Security Project

New vice president of operations brings 20+ years of biometrics and electronic security experience

Washington D.C. - The National Biometric Security Project (NBSP) announced the appointment of Daniel B. Nickell as vice president of operations. In his new position Nickell will be responsible for all NBSP technical operations including testing, training, research, and data services.

In announcing the appointment John Siedlarz, NBSP Chairman and CEO said that Nickell "brings a wealth of experience in biometrics, business development and program and proposal management, all critical to the fulfillment of NBSP's civil infrastructure protection mission."

Prior to joining NBSP Nickell was most recently Director, Business Development/Applied Biometrics at Radian Inc. where he led the division's business development efforts. Among his other responsibilities at Radian, he created a Program Management Plan for the NBSP and developed operational protocols for the NBSP Testing, Research, and Database Center. As a principal consultant before his tenure at Radian Nickell assisted companies identify and win government projects in the U.S. and overseas.

Discussing his new role with NBSP Nickell said that "biometrics is one of the most promising risk management technologies and when integrated with other technologies such as tokens, smart cards, etc. can result in a truly effective identity assurance program. Because of this I wanted an opportunity to focus on biometrics and, as a result of the work I did for NBSP at Radian, when this opportunity materialized I felt it was right for me."
