LifeDoor debuts smart device that closes doors during a fire

Jan. 9, 2018
Technology integrates with a home’s existing smoke detectors and interior doors

(LAS VEGAS, NV) - LifeDoor will make its first appearance on Jan. 9-12, 2018, at the Sands Expo and Convention Center in Las Vegas, Nevada, as part of the largest global gathering of innovation in the world: the International Consumer Electronics Show (CES).  LifeDoor will be one of only 800 exhibitors in Eureka Park™—specialized exhibit area designed for startups launching a new product, service or idea.

LifeDoor combines top-of-mind fire safety awareness with integrative technology designed to close ahome’s interior doors, notify users via a mobile app when triggered by a building’s existing smoke detectors. Additionally, it illuminates the room and sounds a secondary alarm. This is imperative, since researchproves door closure is one of the most important things that can be done in a fire:

●   According to the UL Firefighter Safety Research Institute, it can mean the difference between100 degrees and 1,000 degrees; the difference between life or death
●   Research from the University of Strathclyde’s Centre for Forensic Science showseighty-percent of children between the ages of two and 13 sleep through a standard smoke alarm
●   The National Institute of Standards and Technology discovered that, as of 2008, fires spread600 percent faster than they did in the 1970’s

“We couldn’t be more excited to be part of CES 2018 and showcase an important product,” said LifeDoor co-founder Joel Sellinger. His career as a firefighter sparked LifeDoor’s inception. “Fires change with the way we build structures. Shouldn’t the way we protect ourselves and our families?”Where to find LifeDoor: Sands Expo, Eureka Park Marketplace, Level 1, Hall G Smart Home section, Booth #51938About LifeDoor: “Turning Smart Home Data Into Lifesaving Action™,” LifeDoor mounts to hinges on interior doors, and integrates with existing a building’s existing smoke detectors.
