The VESDA VFT-15 early warning fire detection system from Xtralis provides high-sensitivity fire detection through the use of flexible micro bore sampling tubes that intelligently monitor up to 15 locations to pinpoint the source of incipient smoke, enabling the identification and isolation of a fire alarm within a specific sector or compartment. This actionable intelligence enables fast response to a potential fire or environmental event to minimize downtime and enhance investigations.

Spec it Right with Program

Fire-Lite Alarms released a new Lite-Specs program, designed to allow dealers to create custom fire alarm specifications. This Windows-based software contains the latest technical information on Fire-Lite Alarms’ addressable and conventional systems. A new update feature allows users to download the latest versions of all documentation with the click of a button.

Access Control Panel

The DirecDoor controller from GE Security is a two-reader and two-door power over Ethernet (PoE) IP-connected access control panel. It integrates with Facility Commander® Wnx, Secure Perfect® and Picture PerfectTM access control and integrated security management software. DirecDoor powers the door-lock hardware using PoE. Its simple Ethernet plug-in installation reduces labor costs and allows new doors to be efficiently controlled using online access systems.

It’s Learning Time

Kaba Access Control added the new LearnLok™ feature to the E-Plex PROX-based E5700 series electronic locks, E5770 series SACs (Stand-Alone Access Controller) and the newly introduced E3700 series narrow stile electronic locks. The LearnLok™ feature simplifies programming of up to 300 user credentials (HID PROX cards, fobs, etc.) per door by “learning” them right at the lock’s reader without the use of software and related lock programming devices.

Fire Alarm Panel Release

Bosch Security Systems Inc. unveiled the FPA-1000-UL Compact Fire Panel. This advanced analog addressable control panel offers customers a unique Web-based approach for monitoring and maintaining the system and for generating reports. A Web server and set of interactive Web pages provide an instant means to access important system functions, including programming, status, history files, diagnostic tools and test data.

Internet Transmission of Fire Alarms

Silent Knight’s new IP Communicator enables transmission of fire alarm information over Internet/Intranet lines while providing line supervision every 90 seconds. Designed to plug into a panel’s existing telephone ports, this ANSI/UL 9th Edition-listed product is simple to install, with no panel reconfiguration required. Dealers can take advantage of its upload/download capabilities for remote monitoring, testing and even panel programming.

An ‘Alpha’ Keypad

The 6460 Custom Alpha Keypad from Honeywell is the latest addition to its family of security control keypads that simplifies the operation of residential and commercial security systems. With its customizable logo option, negative etched keys and stylish silver or white housings, Honeywell’s 6460S Custom Alpha Keypads are a great way to help dealers build their brands and win new business.

Integrated System Control

Onity’s Integra 5 electronic locking platform is now being made available to the commercial access control market. The platform combines both online and offline locking devices into a single integrated access control system. Information about who is allowed to access specific doors, along with any associated time and date parameters, is stored within each individual lock. This greatly reduces the cost of installation by eliminating the need for retrofit wiring to any offline doors.

The modular, open architecture AD-Series lets users customize door openings with options such as credential reader type, networking, finish and levers to create a perfect fit. Programmable Keypad

The SDC 917 standalone keypad from Security Door Controls is designed for 120 users.  Each user PIN code may be programmed to actuate 1 relay output and up to 4 voltage outputs. Each output is individually programmable for momentary, timed or latching operation. Other features include automatic time-out, REX input and duress or forced entry output. Voltage input 12/24V AC/DC.

Napco Security Technologies’s new indoor/outdoor biometric keypad integrates with most brands of alarm panels or can be used for standalone alarm and garage door access control. The Gemini BioReader works with all Gemini and Express security systems and operates electric garage doors and lighting systems. RadioRA2 features include main repeater with astronomic time clock, RS-232 and IP integration built-in; seeTouch® hybrid keypad-dimmer for retrofit applications; wireless PicoTM Control; Powr SavrTM occupancy/vacancy sensors; and native system support of GRAFIK Eye® QS lighting control and Sivoia® QS shading solutions, no interfaces required.

Upgrade to H.264

Bosch Security Systems Inc. announced the company’s entire portfolio of IP cameras, including the Dinion IP pictured, is now available with ONVIF-ready H.264 compression technology. The IP cameras deliver high-resolution video with reduced bandwidth and storage consumption – resulting in storage costs that are up to 30 percent less than systems that use traditional MPEG-4 encoding. Customers with installed Bosch IP cameras can download Firmware 4.0 to upgrade to H.264.

Its first outdoor IP network bullet camera, Toshiba Surveillance & IP Video Products, a business unit of Toshiba America Information Systems launched the IP66-rated IK-WB70A. It comes equipped with day-night imaging and IR illuminators that extend visibility up to 49 feet in complete darkness, as well as a wide dynamic range CMOS 1/3.3-inch sensor to cope with high-contrast lighting conditions.

H.264 DVR

The SVR9000S “S-Box” series from Bolide is an H.264 DVR which allows real-time recording, playback and high picture quality. It takes up little hard drive space and also supports Internet Explorer for network preview and USB backup function. Other features include e-mail notification, DDNS, alarm input, relay output and audio recording.

An outdoor combination microwave/passive infrared sensor, the COM-IN100A from Takex has a detection range of 330 feet, with Auto Gain Control, and/or selectable detection switch and high/low frequency microwave setting for stacking capability. Extensive RF Transmisson

The Optex Wireless 1000 Annunciator System now fits extended transmission applications. The addition of the Optex TR-10U Repeater extends the normal RF transmission range – up to 700 feet in line of sight indoor or out and accepts up to four transmitters. It’s compatible with the new TC-10 Door/Window Contact Wireless Transmitter and other devices.

Proximity LCD Reader Breakthrough

The Proximity LCD reader is a stylish access control reader from Paxton Access which comes pre-loaded with four default images. A different image is shown when the reader is idle, when access is granted or denied and when card and PIN verification is required. The reader can be customized by uploading images wirelessly using a USB device and a laptop or PC.

Long-Range Radio Signaling

AvaLAN Wireless Systems Inc. released the AW900iTR-PAIR, a 900MHz indoor wireless Ethernet bridge and the AW900iTR 900MHz indoor wireless Ethernet radio designed for robust and reliable indoor machine-to-machine communications.  The AW900iTR radios now include a built-in spectrum analyzer and they are IP addressable with Web browser based remote configuration and diagnostic tools included.

NVR Software Solution

NUUO introduced the software IP+ version 3.2 (Network Video Recorder) which supports transcoding, digital watermark and simultaneous multiple live viewing displays. Stable and user friendly, the software can simultaneously record and display live different frame rates and resolutions, reducing overall storage costs.

Viewing Monitors

Security monitors specifically engineered for NUVICO cameras and DVRs have been released by this manufacturer. Available in 17- and 19-inch in both standard plastic and premium metal housings, the monitors features super wide viewing angles of 160/160 degrees for viewing from any angle, multiple video inputs, 1000:1 contrast ratio and quick response time of five milliseconds.

New Series of Cameras

HAWK-I Security announced new cameras to its product line, including the Hawk-440VIRCD varifocal dome camera; Hawk 308VCD high-resolution color dome camera; Hawk-501RCB color bullet camera; and the Hawk-131PIR color PIR camera.

Compliant Power Midspan

Power over Ethernet solutions provider Phihong recently released an .at compliant midspan which meets the latest IEEE standards. Providing up to 30W per port and in full compliance with the final power specifications IEEE802.3at standard recently released. Phihong’s PoE Plus midspans are available in single-, 4-, 8- and 16-port models.

Access Control

Genetec released the latest version of its IP access control solution Synergis. With this release, Synergis is fully embedded within Genetec’s unified security platform, the Security Center. Customers who install or upgrade to Synergis 3.0 can take advantage of a user interface for monitoring and reporting, Microsoft Active Directory integration and the Federation feature for creating very large virtual systems consisting of multiple access control systems.

Support and Supportive

The latest version of the Pelco Endura IP video surveillance system (v2.1) now supports select Panasonic i-Pro Series network cameras. And, At ASIS 2009 Pelco demonstrated Panasonic i-Pro network cameras operating on the Endura v2.1 platform. Iinitial support for the Panasonic i-Pro network cameras on the Endura platform will include MPEG-4 for live video monitoring, recording, playback and pan-tilt-zoom (PTZ) camera control.

Vi-Search from Agent VI is a video search and analysis software for instantaneous searches through stored video. The search software enables rapid and effective retrieval and presentation of specific video segments from vast amounts of recorded video. Vi-Search also offers statistical analysis capabilities, such as analysis of motion patterns, traffic flows, and traffic loads.

Wireless Communicator for Commercial Fire

Designed in accordance with UL and NFPA standards, the Uplink Security LLC model 2550-CF from Numerex meets or exceeds fire-safety requirements for major U.S. municipalities and is California Fire Marshal-approved. Compatible with all major alarm control panels, the 2550-CB meets or exceeds requirements for UL bank-vault ratings and is designed to function as the primary or back-up alarm communicator.

The Horn/Strobe Damage Stopper® (STI-1210D) from STI helps protect horn/strobe units against vandalism and damage. The UL Listed cover is slotted for horn/strobe units and has an open-backed spacer with conduit knockouts. The polycarbonate is rated –40° to 120°F (-40° to 49°C)

Coming to Market in 2010

Ioimage will release the ioicam sc1dn, a day/night IP camera with built-in, high performance video analytics. The newest addition to ioimage’s series of ioicam intelligent video cameras, the sc1dn will be available for shipping February 2010 and will retail in the U.S. for $990. Easily set up and operated via a standard Web browser, the ioicam sc1dn can be configured and managed using ioimage command center software.

For the Range in the Middle

The ET9 Midrange Reader (ET9-RO-W-MR) from SecuraKey is an ISO 15693 compliant contactless smart card reader designed for indoor or outdoor applications. The ET9 is the first mid-range smart card reader for access control, providing twice the read range of comparably priced wall-switch readers.  The ET9 reads Secura Key e*Tag cards with Wiegand data, as well as the card’s UID.

Management System for Network Cameras

The IQmanager system software has been designed by IQinVision for managing IQeye network cameras. IQmanager enables network managers to edit and update IQeye cameras with an intuitive, intelligent software support tool. It can find local and remote cameras, perform batch updates, cut and paste camera configurations and perform basic camera diagnostics.

The Kollector Gets Even Better

Vicon introduces a faster, more powerful new generation of its popular Kollector network DVRs. The new 1RU and 3RU models support 480 fps across 16 channels and are H.264-ready. Each has the ability to support local and remote analog, network IP and megapixel cameras, including many 3rd party models. Storage capacity is up to 4TB internally; 36 TB with external RAIDs.

Step Off Bad Guys

The Vandal Resistant Fixed Mini Dome Network Camera from Canon, the VB-C500VD, is built for indoor use where vandals may prey. The unit is designed with the Multi-Directional Shock Absorber, a four-spring mechanism designed to protect the camera by lessening the effects of impact from various angles. If the dome is subjected to a blunt force, the suspension springs shift the lens’ moveable base in the direction of the momentum to catch and displace the force of impact.

Atmel’s SAM3U series is a 32-bit ARM Cortex M3 Flash microcontroller with high-speed 480 Mbps USB. The SAM3U-EK Evaluation Kit (SAM3U-EK) allows the evaluation of the SAM3U series devices. Tamron USA Inc. released a new indoor-use mini-dome camera with a built-in high-quality vari-focal lens. The model DC28105N-12 features a 2.8-10.5mm F/1.2 high quality lens that yields excellent imaging results for surveillance applications.

Server and Recording Action

AMAG Technology released of the family of Symmetry EN-9000 Series video servers and encoders. The Symmetry EN-9000 series operates on the edge of the network and is fully integrated with Symmetry Video Management software to provide a powerful digital video system.

Green UPS Series for Security

Ideal for power protection for security systems, VoIP telephone systems, plus small servers, network peripherals and home entertainment systems, Para Systems Inc. announced the availability of two new additions to the Minuteman EnSpire series of uninterruptible power supplies. The new EN750 and EN900 provide energy savings through two design features. First, when the internal battery is fully charged, the charger goes into “rest mode.” Second, the units are designed to operate at over 90% efficiency while in AC normal mode.

Secure the Detection Product

System Sensor released the 6500-MMK Heavy Duty Mounting Bracket. The bracket allows installers to mount the reflected beam smoke detector transmitter/receiver unit or reflector unit in locations where building movement and vibration are common. Made from 12-gauge stamped steel with locking fasteners, the bracket allows for both pan and tilt to match the angle required for various applications.

The IP Newscaster camera from Marshall Electronics Inc. is equipped with a 1/3-inch CMOS sensor and H.264 video compression. It connects directly to IP networks, eliminating the need for expensive coaxial cable networks and providing full motion 1600 x 1200 resolution.

Grandstream Networks released a new addition to their GXV video phone series, the GXV3006.  Like other models in the GXV300x series, this device is an unrivaled provider of face-to-face communication for any multi-media communication environment, like the virtual office.

Extend Your Installation Possibilities

 The Chase Security Lecture Hall Microphone Enclosure houses a flexible microphone and digital conferencing system unit. These units have been developed for use in lecture halls, theaters and auditoriums to allow attendees to conference with the host speaker from the comfort of their seats. The model CSDFB-35 measures 5” square by 3” and provided with a 2 3/8” standoff which can be mounted behind the arm rest of the preceding row of seats.

Mini Overhead/Floor Mount Contact

The new Tane 86 overhead garage door contact is a floor mount unit that’s mini in size.  Dimensions are two and 1/4-inches long by beveled 3/8-inches high.  This allows the installer to mount the contact out of the way of the fork lift in warehouse applications.  The contact is bar cast aluminum with no epoxy on the underside to deteriorate over time.
