Just say 'No' to power interruptions

UPS technology keeps critical systems on line

"More intelligence is featured in a UPS system and costs are coming down as well," remarked Mike Stout, vice president of Engineering, Falcon Electric, Irwindale, Calif. "The good news is functionality is going up. The systems also have options as frequency converters." Another example of increased intelligence is found in redundancy and digital signal processing technology. Ethernet connectivity to the UPS is also available, making the systems smarter, Stout said. With these enhancements, UPS devices can be found backing up data, providing sources of power in many situations. Wherever there's a critical power need, the UPS delivers.
