A look at the month's new products, with a special focus on thermal, infrared and day-night cameras

Camera Takes on Starlit Conditions
The IK-1000 from Toshiba Surveillance & IP Products is an extreme low-light camera that captures high-resolution color surveillance video at 30 frames-per-second in starlight conditions. This extends color night-vision video capabilities to Homeland Security, military, aviation, public utility and other high-value asset applications.

Armor and IR Camera
Visiontech now offers its VXIRAD Tri-Color camera. The new IR Armor Dome includes a 550TVL Sony Super HAD 3D-DNR High Resolution CCD, low-lux level operation, OSD controls and a 2.8mm to 12mm varifocal lens.

Camera Exhibits Chameleonesque Qualities
Vivotek's IP7361 is a high-end 2 megapixel network bullet camera built for outdoor surveillance. To adapt to changing lighting conditions throughout the day, the camera is furnished with a removable IR-cut filter and IR illuminators for superior image quality around the clock.

6-Model IR Line Up
GE Security's TruVision Infrared (IR) line includes six infrared cameras that can see in total darkness, provide color images by day and black-and-white images under IR operation in low-light applications. TruVision IR dome and bullet cameras are also available in fixed and varifocal lens models.

Miniglobe Surface Mount Cameras
Wren Solution's MGDS4 Detention Grade Miniglobe day/night camera is a surface-mount institutional and prison grade housing that installs easily on wall or ceiling surfaces and offers protection in tough environments. IR illuminators capture clear images in daylight or complete darkness for a total system surveillance solution in the toughest spots.

Detection at a Distance
The AFV-3542-01 from Industrial Video & Control Co. (IVC) is a high-resolution, thermal imaging video camera. It includes a 30 micron detector that provides high speed, state-of-the-art thermal sensitivity and dynamic range to detect human activity at 1,500 feet.

Light Up the Night
The GV-CLRIRH IR day/night camera from Samsung GVI Security is designed for installations where night lighting is low. LEDs (12) provide powerful illumination at a range of up to eight meters. It comes equipped with a 4 mm lens and mounting bracket.

Comfort Seating Round the Clock
For 24/7 centrals and proprietary monitoring stations, call centers, municipalities and other critical round-the-clock operations, Intensive Use Chairs from Concept Seating provide efficient and effective long-term workspaces. The Synchronicity II 3150 (pictured) combines the features of durability and comfort and includes height adjustments, seat tilt and back recline feature; stable, seven-legged spider base; fully adjustable lumbar support; and a six-year warranty.

Atmospheric Lens Technology
PENTAX Imaging Company unveiled a new technology to overcome the challenges of atmospheric conditions such as fog, snow and haze which are often present in outdoor live security surveillance. PENTAX Atmospheric Interference Reduction (PAIR) system technology offers newly developed image processing circuitry installed directly within PENTAX lens housings for step-by-step signal processing for each lens characteristic.

Passport to Safety
Stanley Healthcare Solutions launched the PassportT patient protection system. The system guards hospitals against patient flight or wandering in a variety of situations including emergency, trauma, mental health and geriatric care. The PassportT system was built on the technology of Stanley Healthcare Solutions' HugsR infant protection system.

Home Safe Home
The Visonic Home Safety Series of fully supervised wireless devices includes carbon monoxide (CO), smoke, temperature and water leak detectors. All are compatible with Visonic PowerMax(r) and Amber wireless systems. The units issue visual and/or audio alarms and send notifications to the panel.

Double Up on Security
The 175 BIO from Marks USA is a new fingerprint recognition system that eliminates the risk of replication or unauthorized use. The unit is combined with Marks Grade 2 Cylindrical Survivor lockset and is available in a 26E powder coat finish. Power is supplied to the fingerprint reader and lockset by four AA batteries. It can register up to 100 users and is available with an optional audit trail.
