A look at new card readers, printers and IP access control solutions

Data Loss Prevention

The ioPLEX from Avtec Systems, a subsidiary of CVG, Inc., is an IP access gateway that powers transparent delivery of critical data circuits and services over packet-switched networks via industry-standard pseudowire emulation end-to-end (PWE3) encapsulation. Featuring Assured DeliveryTM, in which diverse-path routing, packet reordering, intelligent reconstruction and other technologies are employed to guarantee data delivery, ioPLEX is ideal for applications in which data loss during network transit is unacceptable. Powering Edge Devices

Altronix’s NetWay Mid-Spans are IEEE 802.3af compliant and designed to power video and access control edge devices. Products include: NetWay8 with 8 ports rated at 15.4W max, two ports are selectable for 30W higher-current devices; NetWay16 with 16 ports at 15.4W, four ports are selectable to 30W; NetWay1 single port mid-span injector with PoE shutdown; NetWayXT extends range 100m (328’) increments; NetWay1512 and NetWay3012 enables compatibility with non-PoE compliant devices. All NetWay midspans and adapters are UL/cUL listed for Information Technology Equipment (UL60950-1). Visit 179.

More Resources to the Rescue!

Brivo Systems’ Brivo AppStack, a catalog of complementary security management resources, is now available with Brivo’s hosted ACS WebService. AppStack’s complementary services share data and tightly bound processes with Brivo’s core hosted access control application, and range from video integration and ID Badging to workforce management and parking reservation allocation. Customers can choose one or multiple software additions to their security management system and manage them all via the Brivo Web-hosted interface. Visit 174.

Meeting the Smaller Guy’s Needs

NEXUS 220 from Amano Security Systems, Inc. is a scalable access control system for small-to-medium organizations comprised of Web client software and a complete range of system hardware. This fully redundant IP system combines ease of installation and configuration with the capability of controlling up to 128 doors. The system also includes MIFARE reader support and seamlessly integrates with Sagem biometric systems. Visit 162.

Readers Get the ‘Okay’ for Use with PIV Smart Cards

Cherry Electrical Products, Inc.’s SR-4300 ExpressCard reader and ST-1210 stand-alone smart card readers are now FIPS201 certified by the General Services Administration (GSA) for use with Personal Identification Verification (PIV) smart cards. The ST-1210 is a CCID-compliant, low-profile USB contacting reader designed for one-hand operation. The SR-4300 ExpressCard reader is already being bundled with notebooks for applications in federal government agencies but is also suitable for a broad range of non-government applications. It’s All in the Family

Keri Systems’ access control platform, NetXtreme (NXT), includes a family of TCP/IP-based Controllers, I/O Expansion Boards and RS-485 Proximity Readers. Because the controllers have a TCP/IP port on-board, no Ethernet/LAN adaptors are required. Each controller has an embedded unique MAC address, which the software uses to discover the controllers on a subnet; the customer then assigns IP addresses within their domain for system management. All-In-One Access Control

Cogent Systems’ ID-Gate is a multi-function, biometrically-secured access control device that is FIPS 201-PIV and TWIC compliant. The ID-Gate features an integrated keypad, a contact and contactless smart card reader and fingerprint scanner all-in-one device. Visit 164.
