Extended Storage NVR
Vicon Industries Inc., has introduced the “NVR Shadow,” an NVR pre-loaded with ViconNet video management software and including up to 6.5 TB of usable, internal storage space in RAID 5 configuration. In addition to serving as the “hub” of the video network, the product provides extended storage through eight hot-swappable drives for video database storage. The NVR is offered with three levels of usable storage space: 1.6 TB, 3.3 TB or 6.5 TB. The number of cameras it can simultaneously record varies from 50 to 95, depending on the cameras’ frame rate, recording quality and resolution.
Storage/Access Control Integration
Intransa has received Lenel factory certification for the integration of its StorStac video data management and retention systems (pictured) with Lenel’s OnGuard access control system. The StorStac systems scale modularly as needed from as little as 2 terabytes (TBs) of RAID protected, hot-swap video retention through to more than 1,500 TB of retention capacity. Version 5.1.1 (StorStac BuildingBlock) was tested with the latest OnGuard 2008 Plus (version 6.1.222). Intransa is a member of Lenel’s Open Access Alliance Program (OAAP).
Bosch Security Systems Inc.’s Divar XF Hybrid Digital Video Recorder (DVR) offers end-users an easy migration path to IP, supporting eight or 16 analog cameras and up to eight H.264 IP video streams. The unit delivers images for both live viewing and recorded video with up to full 4CIF resolution on all channels. With RAID-4 technology, video is stored on up to four internal hard disk drives to ensure maximum protection of recorded video and deliver uninterrupted system reliability even in the event of a drive failure.
Hybrid Video Recorder
Pelco has released its DX8100 Version 2.0 Hybrid Video Recorders, which can record analog cameras as well as Pelco and Axis Standard Definition IP network camera systems. The units give end-users an efficient IP migration strategy and feature expanded external storage options and extended network capabilities. Other features include powerful search capabilities, multiple display options and server-to-server dual-display.
Storage Platform with NVR Recovery
Pivot3 Inc. has announced a data recovery feature that protects surveillance applications against server hardware failures. The NVR Recovery solution for the supplier’s Serverless Computing product line — a scaled, server storage platform that won “Best in Show” in the SIA New Product Showcase at ISC West — automatically restarts applications such as video management systems, access control and video analytics in the case of a server failure. The system is based on an open-system approach that enables the supplier’s storage to work with different camera, software and service providers.
DVR-Access Control Integration
Speco Technologies has announced that its “T” Series DVRs (pictured) are now compatible with Brivo Access Control Software, creating an integrated online access control/security solution for Central Station monitoring. The DVRs work with Brivo’s Online Access Control System (ACS) to retrieve time-stamped video clips of people using their access cards for building entry. A camera looking at the access door is connected locally to the DVR, which is networked to the Internet. When someone swipes their access card, a video clip is recorded to the DVR and a date and time stamp from the card is sent to the Brivo server. The Central Station can look at the event dates on-line and access the video clip remotely from the DVR.
Megapixel NVR and Event Recording System
IQinVision’s latest generation of IQrecorder includes an intuitive user interface and a redesigned engine to provide better performance. The on-camera megapixel NVR solution features simultaneous playback and live viewing, flexible scheduling, improved digital zoom on recorded images, full screen viewing and a graphical time/date search. The IQeye Event Recording System (ERS) is a self-contained High-Definition megapixel network video recorder that uses no bandwidth to record video — making it perfect for installations where network bandwidth is at a premium. It also offers on-camera solid state storage that is able to record more than 20,000 events.
Dedicated Micros has unveiled its entry-level EcoSense DVR (Digital Video Recorder), designed to deliver low-cost, multi-channel recording with simultaneous playback and viewing. A key new feature is the integration of on-board help videos to assist the end-user with operation and product configuration. The unit can be controlled through a touch sensitive front panel or, if preferred, via a mouse, remote control or keyboard. This capability gives users full and easy access to all of the DVR’s features including PTZ control, alarm and event management and activity detection. Available in a choice of 16-, 8- or 4-channel models, the DVRs deliver global record rates of up to 200pps (PAL) and 240 pps (NTSC).
Intelligent Recorders with VLM
TimeSight Systems’ intelligent video recorders featuring Video Lifecycle Management (VLM) technology won the prestigious SIA New Product Showcase “Best Video Device” at ISC West. The units continually reduce the size of stored video over time, saving up to 90 percent of the storage normally required for storing quality video surveillance data. With the addition of the supplier’s MORe (Motion Optimized Recording) capabilities, further intelligence is applied to allow the capture and storage of all video by storing the ‘non-motion’ video at highly compressed footprints and much lower frame rates than motion-oriented video, resulting in storage savings.
Intelligent Storage Servers
Aberdeen LLC has introduced its Stirling series of scalable storage servers featuring the Intel Xeon Processor 5500. The servers are scalable from 4TB up to 400TB of storage capacity. The Intel microarchitecture, formerly code-named Nehalem, improves performance by increasing processor frequency and enabling faster speeds. Other features include: up to 96GB triple channel DDR3 memory capacity, maximum memory bandwidth up to 32GB/s, redundant power chassis, simultaneous SATA/SAS hard drive integration and an increased emphasis on expandability via SAS expansion.
DVR with Simultaneous Playback
SAMSUNG | GVI Security’s SHR-8000 Series DVRs enable users to simultaneously review playback while recording in real-time. The DVRs achieve real-time, full D1 resolution at 480IPS high-quality recording. The units include Net-I client software, which enables high-definition video display while live video is recording onto a hard disk. The standalone units enable users to pan/tilt/zoom any camera on the network. The units provide disk storage of 500 GB SATA HDD standard of 6x 1TB HDD capacity.
Scalable Storage System
Nexsan Technologies’ SATABoy system is a highly scalable storage system that enables cost-effective storage of large amounts of information online. The system features high-capacity storage of up to 14TB in just 3U of rack space. It features the supplier’s AutoMAID (Massive Array of Idle Disks) technology, which enables the system to place its disk drives into an idle state to conserve energy yet provide near-instantaneous access to data.
Digital Video Hard Drive
Seagate’s SV35.5 Series hard drives are specifically designed for digital video surveillance systems. The hard drive provides a number of advantages for video surveillance environments over standard hard drives, including: performance-tuned 140 MB/s sustained sequential data rates and ATA-7 streaming commands for high-speed transfers. With disk capacities from 250GB to 1TB, the hard drive offers flexible DVR design capabilities as a video surveillance DVR, network DVR, or for direct and network-attached JBOD video surveillance storage.
Toshiba Surveillance and IP Network Video has announced the availability of the Toshiba IPS Series of Internet-based network video recorders (NVR).Compatible with the supplier’s and other IP cameras, the NVRs record from cameras at their encoded resolution, including high-resolution megapixel cameras, without degradation in video quality. On-board software provides security administrators with simultaneous recording, playback and remote streaming of live video images retrievable on their remote or local PC, along with comprehensive search capabilities of archives. They are available in 32-, 16- and 8-channel versions with 500 GB, 1TB or 2TB hard-drive storage.
3VR Security has released its S-Series SmartRecorder, a true hybrid DVR/NVR, offering video management features and expandability without sacrificing support for video analytic, biometric, data integration and search features. An open integration platform enables users to quickly and easily incorporate important data from other systems. The unit's durable exterior, heat-resistant structure and compact dimensions also enable the platform to be versatile enough for confined spaces, such as ATMs and kiosks.
The Plustek NVR 4000 is a network video recorder which enables users to connect four IP cameras into one hub that can record and store the video streams for easy retrieval for up to 14 days. The included NVR Multi-Manager software enables users with multiple cameras to view up to 16 channels of surveillance images on a single screen. Now with megapixel camera support, the unit enables the user to zoom in and closely follow changing details in a video stream.
