QinetiQ North America Names Dr. Richard M. Wiesman as Its Chief Technology Officer

MCLEAN, Va. , May 19 /PRNewswire/ -- QinetiQ North America announced today that Dr. Richard M. Wiesman has been named Chief Technology Officer (CTO). He comes from the company's Technology Solutions Group, where he holds the same position.

In his new role, Dr. Wiesman will report to Duane Andrews , QinetiQ North America's CEO, and be responsible for developing the information and scientific technology vision and strategy for the company. The CTO will anticipate and address solutions for QinetiQ North America's customers and will increase the company's technology reputation.

Dr. Wiesman brings an extensive background to the business in the areas of systems engineering, computer modeling and simulation, electromechanical and mechanical design and analysis, distributed controls, smart sensors and communications, and program management. His relationship with QinetiQ North America started in 1983 when he joined its subsidiary, Foster-Miller, as a senior engineer.

Dr. Wiesman received his bachelors and masters degrees in mechanical engineering from MIT in June of 1976. He also earned a Ph.D. degree in mechanical engineering from MIT in February of 1983. He has authored a number of technical publications and holds numerous patents.

A member of MIT's faculty, Dr. Wiesman is a Professor of the Practice in the Department of Mechanical Engineering where he teaches and supervises research in the areas of design, manufacturing and product development. He also teaches in the areas of controls, instrumentation and robotics, and is co-director of MIT's Field and Space Robotics Laboratory.
