Jacobs Receives Operations & Maintenance Contract for the National Ignition Facility

PASADENA , Calif., Nov. 13 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Jacobs Engineering Group Inc. (NYSE: JEC) announced today that it received a contract to provide facility integrated management operations (FIMO) support for the National Ignition Facility (NIF) at the Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory (LLNL) in California.

The contract has a potential value of $19 million over a four year period.

NIF is a research laboratory facility to be used by scientists from different institutions and disciplines to support high energy, pulsed laser systems research advancements in national security, fusion, and basic science. LLNL is operated by Lawrence Livermore National Security, LLC for the U.S. Department of Energy's National Nuclear Security Administration.

In making the announcement, Jacobs President and CEO Craig Martin stated, "This contract provides an excellent opportunity to build upon our relationship with the LLNL. We supported the laboratory with all phases of the design, construction, and commissioning of the NIF as well as the initial implementation of the operations and maintenance program. Selecting Jacobs as the FIMO contractor is the next step toward achieving successful facility operations and maintenance within the high-technology NIF. We will continue to work closely with LLNL to accomplish the NIF program mission and derive maximum value from this unique national asset."
