IDO Security MagShoe(TM) Detects Metal Blasting Caps in Shoes Sited by FBI and Department of Homeland Security

Nov. 6, 2007

NEW YORK, Nov. 6 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- IDO Security, (OTC Bulletin Board: IDOI) the provider of MagShoe(TM) high speed shoes-on portable footwear metal weapons detection system, commented on a joint assessment issued on October 24th by the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Department of Homeland Security's Office of Intelligence and Analysis that terrorists may be stepping up their shoe bombing efforts. The report was prompted by the capture of a suspect with a metal blasting cap concealed in a shoe.

The report was very succinct in its findings: "A recent terrorist incident involving the international smuggling explosives containing electric blasting caps highlights the continuing use of modified footwear as a concealment method for explosive devices. These shoe modifications are difficult to detect by visual inspection. Homeland security personnel, law enforcement officials, and international security partners -- particularly at airport passenger screening checkpoints -- need to be cognizant of the continued interest among terrorists to conceal explosive devices in shoes."

IDO Security, believes that they have a reliable and efficient answer to this problem. IDO's President, Michael Goldberg , said that there is a reason why terrorists have gone to shoes as a place to conceal explosives, and that is because "virtually all explosive devices need some type of metal component, whether wiring or detonator, and that the basic walk through arch type metal detector will spot metal components of explosive devices reliably anywhere on the body, except not effectively as necessary close to ground level which just happens to be the where shoes are worn."

IDO Security responded to the security gap and weakness by creating a solution to plug the gap: the MagShoe(TM), a high speed (under 2 seconds per check), shoes-on metal detector that reliably and efficiently detects metallic weapons and bomb components in shoes, feet and the lower extremities, from ground level up to about the ankles. IDO Security is currently working with its consultant, former Secretary of the Department of Homeland Security the Honorable Tom Ridge , to finalize the submission of the MagShoe(TM) to the DHS for approval.
