IRVING, Texas, Oct. 3 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- EFJ, Inc. (Nasdaq: EFJI) announced today that its EFJohnson subsidiary has received an order from the US Department of Homeland Security (DHS). The $1 million order calls for EFJohnson to provide the agency with its Project 25 compliant Trunked IP25(TM) Infrastructure System along with the company's portable and mobile radios.

"We are pleased to assist the DHS in upgrading their P25 first responder network and completing their critical communication objectives," said Michael E. Jalbert, chairman and chief executive officer of EFJ, Inc. "With the addition of the IP25 system, the agency will have the ability to deploy the IP25 network in a disaster area to support the mission at hand. The IP25 system will improve spectrum efficiency in field operations by allowing more users to utilize the limited RF channels without interference. It will also provide additional support with an interoperability gateway from federal agencies to state and local responders." The company expects to ship the order by the end of the year, Jalbert added.
