Hyland Software adds support for KOM Networks e-WORM Technology

Ottawa ON, Canada and Cleveland, OH, USA – August 28, 2006 KOM Networks, a global leader of storage management software solutions and Hyland Software, developer of OnBase enterprise content management (ECM) software, announced today the latest product integration between Hyland’s OnBase and KOM Networks’ KOMworx patented (e-WORM) Hard Disk Archiving technology.

The combined solution will allow organizations to securely retain files on high performance resources, enabling compliance with regulatory requirements and corporate governance guide lines while restricting access to the archive repository to any unauthorized third party; thus ensuring the privacy of their critical information and digital assets.

Compliance today is on the mind of every Officer. Organizations are under increased pressure and scrutiny to comply with various government regulations such as SEC 17a-4, Sarbanes-Oxley, HIPAA, DoD 5015.2 and NASD among others. KOMworx e-WORM solution can transform standard disk-based hardware into non-rewriteable, non-erasable WORM storage media that satisfy both best practices and the most stringent government regulations in achieving compliance. KOM Networks developed the e-WORM solution based on a patented technology, which transparently archives files to High Performance RAID arrays and other hard disks for long-term data retention. With e-WORM, customers can leverage their existing hardware of choice to archive their data and protect it from being altered or deleted during the storage retention period.

“Through this added support to KOM Networks e-WORM technology, we are allowing OnBase users to benefit from the archiving environment that KOMworx can provide,” said George Angelato, vice president of Quality Assurance of Hyland Software.

“This latest level of integration between KOMworx and OnBase will provide our customers with the ideal solution to respond to a whole set of regulatory requirements with a standard based cost effective solution,” said Kamel Shaath, Chief Technology Officer of KOM Networks. “We already have customers benefiting from this integration to securely archive their files on High Performance Hard Disk resources; OnBase users benefiting from our WORM archiving on hard disk are guaranteed hard disk high performance, maximum security and high accessibility to fixed content data,” he added.

KOMworx software is at the core of the KOMpliance archiving appliance offering announced at SNW Spring conference. The new support will allow customers to connect the appliance to the network and target it directly from the OnBase content management solution for simplified deployment and manageability. KOMpliance will offer the most cost effective hard disk archiving solution to meet the growing regulatory compliance and disaster recovery needs of any organization.
