WASHINGTON, Sept. 13 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- On Thursday, September 27, 2007 and in recognition of National Preparedness Month, the American Red Cross of the National Capital Area in partnership with the Homeland Security & Defense Business Council will host a Partners in Preparedness Symposium to provide an interactive, hands-on discussion for businesses in the National Capital Region (NCR) on how to better prepare for, respond to and recover from the impacts of natural and man-made disasters.

In conjunction with this event, The Homeland Security & Defense Business Council will release a thought leadership study titled Corporate Responsibility: Why Businesses Should Be Prepared in a World of Uncertainty. The study looks at industry's role in partnering with federal, state and local governments to help protect and secure America's homeland.

Guest speakers include: The Honorable Frank Keating , former Governor of Oklahoma and President and CEO of American Council of Life Insurers, Darrell Darnell , Director of the District of Columbia Homeland Security and Emergency Management Agency and Greg Pellegrino , Chairman of the Homeland Security & Defense Business Council, Global Managing Director of Deloitte's Global Public Sector and James C. Dinegar, President and CEO, Greater Washington Board of Trade. The emcee for this event will be Debbi Jarvis , Vice President Communications , Pepco Holdings, Inc and former reporter for NBC4.
