LENEXA, Kan., March 10 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- ICOP Digital, Inc. (Nasdaq: ICOP), an industry-leading company engaged in advancing digital surveillance solutions, today announced that on Saturday, March 8, 2008 , Dave Owen , Chairman and CEO of ICOP, and Laura Owen , the Company's President and COO, were presented with the "Patriot Award" from the U.S. Department of Defense (DOD) at a ceremony held at the U.S. Army Reserve Center in Belton, Missouri.
The Patriot Award, sponsored by the National Committee of Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR) and awarded on behalf of the DOD, distinguishes employers for employment policies and practices that are supportive of their employees' participation in the National Guard and Reserve. All employer recognition and awards originate from nominations by individual Reserve component members.
In addition to emphasizing the hiring of former law enforcement officers and military veterans as a standard business practice, ICOP has implemented policies that protect the job rights of employees absent on military leave.
An ICOP employee and U.S. Army Reservist activated in October 2007 , Staff Sergeant Stephen Omoletski , independently nominated ICOP for this prestigious honor and was present when the certificate and Patriot lapel pin were awarded to Company officials. SSG Omoletski has been a U.S. Army Reservist since 1995 and is currently assigned to the 209th Regional Support Group, 335th Signal Command. His unit provides command and control of assigned or attached units, as well as preparedness and readiness training necessary to meet troop deployment requirements in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom ( Iraq ) and Operation Enduring Freedom ( Afghanistan ).
"When I was called to active duty, I was not surprised by the support and encouragement I received - and continue to receive - from everyone at ICOP. It is an extraordinary company to work for that recognizes and deeply values my commitment to serve and defend our country."
"We are highly honored to receive this Award," stated Dave Owen . "But, it is Stephen, and all others serving in our nation's military, who we should be celebrating for the personal sacrifices they are making for all of us. Considering that our son numbers among those military service members currently serving in Iraq , our Company's dedication to supporting our troops is further punctuated by our family's personal devotion to these brave men and women."
