ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- Curt J. Shewchuk, director of corporate protective services for Con-Way Transportation Services, Inc. (Con- Way), was named Security Professional of the Year by American Trucking Associations (ATA).

A 32-year law enforcement and security veteran, Shewchuk is responsible for the management of all worldwide security initiatives for CNF's two companies, Con-Way and Menlo Worldwide Logistics. He received the award October 4 at the ATA's Safety and Loss Prevention Management Council conference in Miami. According to the ATA, the award is presented to the security professional who has demonstrated the ability to design, introduce and manage a successful security program that sets the bar for extraordinary performance.

"Curt's contributions to both CNF and the industry more than qualify him to receive this award. Many of the security programs used in the transportation and logistics industry today can be attributed to his innovative thinking and approach to security," said David S. McClimon, president of Con-Way. "He was instrumental in the enrollment growth of the ATA's Highway Watch program and has worked closely on initiatives with the FBI and Department of Homeland Security Information Network for Critical Infrastructure Transportation." Shewchuk is based in Chester, Va.
