GeoTrust Names Stephen Ryan Vice President of Business Development

Ryan brings nearly 20 years of management experience to GeoTrust, where he will be responsible for driving revenue and market share

WELLESLEY, Mass. -- GeoTrust, Inc., a leader in identity and security solutions for e-business and the world's second largest certificate authority, today named Stephen Ryan as vice president of business development. Ryan brings nearly 20 years of management experience to GeoTrust, where he will be responsible for driving revenue and market share through strategic alliances with distribution, original equipment manufacturers (OEM) and technology partners.

"Steve brings a wealth of experience in evaluating and forging strategic business relationships, as well as expertise in online commerce transactions," said Neal Creighton, president and CEO of GeoTrust. "He will play a core role in further expanding GeoTrust's worldwide business and digital certificate brands at a time when the company continues to experience record growth."

Prior to GeoTrust, Ryan was vice president at Arcot Systems, Inc., an e- business authentication solutions provider. There, he was responsible for corporate development where he built and managed strategic alliances with companies such as Visa, MasterCard, American Express, America Online, Hewlett- Packard, IBM, SAIC, Accenture, PricewaterhouseCoopers and Microsoft.

Prior to Arcot Systems, Ryan served as a senior vice president at Visa USA, leading strategic relationship development and strategy for the eVisa Group. Visa USA is the largest payment system company in the world with over $1 trillion in annual sales.

He also served as senior vice president at First Data Corporation, where he was responsible for product management and marketing for the Merchant Services business unit. At the time, First Data Merchant Services had revenues of $1.5 billion and was the largest credit card processing company in the world.

Ryan's financial services industry experience also extends to NationsBank (acquired by Bank of America), where he was vice president in charge of systems, products and operations for the Credit Card Acquirer Division. During his tenure, NationsBank's annual transaction volume was over 60 million in credit and debit card transactions for a portfolio of $6.7 billion in sales volume.

Additionally, Ryan has worked as a consultant on numerous high-profile software design and engineering applications projects. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Management Information Systems from Old Dominion University in Norfolk, Virginia.
