Winners to be honored at ISC East and SIA Gala Banquet

LAS VEGAS — Security Technology Executive magazine, in cooperation with the Security Industry Association (SIA) and ISC East, announces at ISC West the official opening of the 2013 annual STE Security Innovation Awards, honoring the best in the industry in cooperative, innovative security deployments.

Find out if your project ranks among the most unique and innovative in North America...and get well-deserved recognition at ISC East and the SIA Gala Banquet, as well as in the November/December issue of STE. Submissions are now being accepted for the annual awards, with full details and entry form available at http://www.securityinfowatch.com/magazine/stec/innovationawards.

Benefits of Entry
For vendors, this contest gives you the opportunity to honor your most important end-user clients, your talented integrator partners who got the job done, and of course the innovative technologies that made it happen. For integrators, consultants and systems engineers, it’s an opportunity to honor your most important end-user clients, as well as your trusted vendor partners who supplied innovative technologies. And for end-users, it’s an opportunity to showcase your organization and how it places innovative security as a top priority, as well as to demonstrate the collaborative nature of your security department with the rest of your organization and outside sources.

Our panel of industry experts will select the top projects (gold, silver, bronze and hon. mention), which will be featured in the Nov/Dec issue of STE magazine, with the Gold winner featured on the cover. The gold and silver projects, along with their primary participants, will be honored and recognized on stage at the SIA Gala Banquet at ISC East on Nov. 20.

Past Winners

Last year’s Gold Innovation Award-winning project exemplified the tight cooperation and work it takes to complete a successful security project on a huge scale. Securing the Devon Tower, the tallest building between California and the Mississippi River, was no small feat — it took a team of integrators, consultants, architects and 12 different security-related technology vendors to secure the building, which serves as the headquarters of Devon Energy Corporation.

Under the supervision of Dowley Security’s team of integrators and working with lead vendor AMAG Technology, Devon’s director of corporate security Kent Chrisman needed a solution to secure the 1.8 million square-foot glass tower that houses more than 3,000 employees and is open to the public in downtown Oklahoma City for dining and special events. “It was crucial for us to be able to take a highly public space and ensure both its aesthetic beauty and the security of its occupants. It is a balancing act trying to keep the architects happy and at the same time making sure all your systems work,” says Chrisman, who has been with Devon Energy for five years after spending 14 years as a special agent for the United States Secret Service.
