Andrew Dennis

Director Medical Operations, Cook County Trauma Unit/Sheriff's Office

Dr. Andrew Dennis is a sworn law enforcement officer and Director of Medical Operations for the Cook County Sheriff’s Department, as well as the Medical Director and team surgeon for the Northern Illinois Police Alarm System. Dr. Dennis coordinates the Cook County Trauma Unit fellowship in tactical and forensic medicine.  He is a member of the physician section of the IACP and consults frequently for the National Institute of Justice and Department of Justice. Dr. Dennis is the CEO of Medical Tactics, a firm dedicated to empowering the individual by connecting the science of decision making to critical actions necessary for survival when faced with injury.  Medical Tactics focuses on safety and survival in the workplace. In addition, Dr. Dennis is an attending surgeon at the Cook County Trauma and Burn Units in Chicago, Ill. He is chairman of the Department of Surgery at  Midwestern University College of Osteopathic Medicine, and faculty at Rush University College of Medicine. He is board certified in general surgery / critical care and practices trauma and burn surgery. Dr. Dennis has published extensively in the medical and surgical literature as well as within law enforcement.
