Editor's Note: Do You Know a Security Innovator?

March 19, 2024
Peer nominations are now open for our annual award program

This article originally appeared in the March 2024 issue of Security Business magazine. Don’t forget to mention Security Business magazine on LinkedIn and @SecBusinessMag on Twitter if you share it.

Last year, Security Business launched the Security Innovator Awards, the industry’s first 100% peer-nominated program to recognize the innovative contributions made by individuals in the security industry – from integrators to consultants, to practitioners, and even manufacturers.

Instead of forming a panel or a committee to accept and vet nominations, we have opened this award to anyone to be able to recognize a fellow employee or a partner with whom they work closely for being innovative. We think it fills a unique void in this industry for peer-nominated recognition.

“Innovation is crucial for ensuring that new products, solutions, and services can be developed, implemented, and managed,” SecurityInfoWatch Editorial Director Steve Lasky said of last year’s awards. “The Security Innovator Awards emphasize applauding innovation and reward those individuals who demonstrate an outstanding level of excellence within our vital and constantly evolving industry.”

Integrators and consultants, do you know someone who, for example:

  • Devised a new or innovative way to deploy a technology solution?
  • Stepped up during a crisis or other emergency?
  • Went above and beyond to have a positive impact in the community or for our industry?
  • Developed a new, game-changing technology, feature, or standard?
  • Came through in the clutch to push a significant project over the finish line?
  • Innovated a new business practice to deal with challenges such as supply chain issues and product shortages?
  • The list goes on – as long as it is industry-related and innovative, it will be considered.

Nominations are open today, and it is super easy to do so. Just visit www.securityinfowatch.com/industryinnovators and fill out a form indicating who your nominee is, where they work, and why you think they should be honored as a Security Industry Innovator in 2024. It is really that simple. Your nominee can be an employee, colleague, friend, or business partner. There will be no fee to nominate an individual. Nominations will close on May 17.

Remember, this is an award for individuals, not organizations, and these nominations will be vetted.

Honored individuals will be featured in the July issue of Security Business, the July/August issue of Security Technology Executive, and on SecurityInfoWatch.com. There will be an opportunity to upgrade an honoree’s recognition with special packages designed to highlight and enhance the acknowledgment.
