One recipe reportedly altered

HERSHEY, Pa. --

It appears hackers hit Hershey's recipe website. One of the recipes on the site was altered, but Hershey isn't saying which one.

The Consumerist is reporting that Hershey's customers received an email about the security breach.

A News 8 viewer sent us the email announcement she's received. It also stated that some e-mail addresses, passwords, birthdates and street addresses may have been compromised, but no financial information.

The Hershey company released a statement regarding the incident. Here it is in its entirety:

"We recently discovered that an unauthorized individual accessed one of our Internet sites and altered one of our baking recipes. Consumers rely on us for this information, and we take the quality of these recipes very seriously. We have corrected the situation and taken steps to enhance the security of this information. All indications are that this incident involved only the website where we manage our recipes. The website does not store any financial information or sensitive personal information. We have put additional security precautions in place to help prevent this from happening again."
