U.S. Air Force Awards $45 Million Infrared Countermeasure Technology Contract to SAIC

SAN DIEGO and MCLEAN, Va. , Nov. 10 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Science Applications International Corporation (NYSE: SAI) today announced it has been awarded a prime contract by the Department of the Air Force to provide research and development of new infrared countermeasure technologies to help protect U.S. military aircraft. This single award, indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity contract will support the Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL) Electro-Optical Warfare Technical Analysis Effort (EOWTA) II Program. The contract has a sixty three month period of performance and a contract ceiling of $45.6 million. Work will be performed primarily in Dayton, Ohio . The program is managed by the Air Force Research Laboratory's Sensors Directorate at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, Ohio .

The Directorate leads the discovery, development and integration of sensor and countermeasure technologies for the warfighter. The new technologies developed and assessed by SAIC will help the Air Force protect military aircraft from surface-to-air and air-to-air missile threats. Under the contract, SAIC will help make operation and performance improvements to facilities, including their instrumentation, control and data processing equipment. SAIC will also perform analysis and vulnerability assessments of missile, sensor and spacecraft systems within the Dynamic Infrared Missile Evaluation (DIME) Facility.
