Agent Vi Announces Launch of Video Content Analysis for Digital Media Processors Based on DaVinci(TM) Technology

Nov. 4, 2008

ROSH HA'AYIN, Israel , Nov. 4 /PRNewswire/ -- Agent Vi, leading provider of advanced video analytics solutions, today announced the availability of its Vi-Agent software development kit (SDK) for the Texas Instruments Inc. (TI) digital media processors based on DaVinci(TM) technology. By using the new SDK developers of Internet Protocol (IP) cameras and video encoders can easily enhance their product offering by enabling real-time video content analysis (VCA) on any device for a variety of security, safety and business intelligence applications.

The integration of Agent Vi "Future-Proofed" technology with TI's digital media processors will allow future features and enhancements released by Agent Vi to be applied to the processors without requiring any creation, testing or deployment of new firmware.

The new SDK supports the entire portfolio of digital media processors based on DaVinci technology including the digital signal processor (DSP) + ARM(R) dual-core, DSP-only and ARM-only processors. Agent Vi's SDK is compliant with TI's eXpressDSP(TM) and eXpressDSP Digital Media (xDM)(TM) standards for easy and fast integration.

"The Vi-Agent is the most comprehensive video content analysis software platform on the market today, with versions available for all leading processing architectures," said Zvika Ashani , chief technology officer of Agent Vi. "Extending our platform support to the digital media processors based on DaVinci technology architecture allows almost any video network device to be quickly enabled for delivering feature rich, high performance and continually evolving VCA capabilities. TI's eXpressDSP architecture allows us to provide video device developers with an extremely easy to use SDK which ensures a minimal development and testing effort while providing a key enhancement to their product."

By using TI's eXpressDSP architecture, the application developer can add analytics capabilities within a matter of days, which will provide end users with the ability to monitor and detect in real time the behavior of people, vehicles and objects in a variety of demanding environments and without impacting other important functionality of the device, such as video streaming.

"Adding video content analytics to surveillance systems is becoming increasingly more important and it's a challenging endeavor for many developers," said Cyril Clocher , worldwide Video Security & Imaging marketing manager, Texas Instruments. "Agent Vi's SDK will aid customers in their product development and allow them to add analytics capabilities with minimal design frustration and delay so as to create products that are able to monitor and detect activities of people, vehicles and objects in busy environments."
