GERMANTOWN, Md. , Nov. 3 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Optelecom-NKF, Inc. (Nasdaq: OPTC), a leading global supplier of advanced video surveillance solutions, today announced it has been awarded a surveillance solutions contract from Roiret Transport for the Tramway du Mans in Le Mans, France .
The contract, currently in the implementation phase, calls for the deployment of Optelecom-NKF's Siqura(R) Surveillance Solution, which combines video encoding and storage for more than 100 high-quality video streams. The Optelecom-NKF Siqura(R) solution will be fully integrated with Roiret's Scada system to enhance the existing security infrastructure. The Siqura(R) Systems network components approach includes IP products ranging from cameras to control room, all guaranteed to seemlessly integrate with offerings from third-party vendors to work together in a standards-based environment.
Roiret Transport specializes in transportation systems. It is a subsidiary of Vinci Energies, a leading energy and information technology company in France . Vinci Energies, in turn, is a specialty subsidiary of Vinci, the world's leading concessions and construction group.

The Le Mans tramway now totals 18 km (11.1 miles) in length, including trackage to serve the carbarn-- maintenance and storage facility. About 10 km (6 miles) of its route alignment consists of track embedded in grass - increasingly preferred as a streetscaping embellishment in new French Light Rail Transport systems. Le Mans transport planners project ridership eventually will reach 50,000 passenger-trips per day
