SAN DIEGO and MCLEAN, Va. , Feb. 19 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Science Applications International Corporation (NYSE: SAI) today announced that it was awarded a task order from the Department of the Army, Contracting Center of Excellence to provide information technology (IT) and information management services to the U.S. Army Human Resource Command in support of the interactive Personnel Electronic Records Management System (iPERMS). The single award task order has a one year base period of performance, four one-year options and a total contract value of more than $48 million if all options are exercised. Work will be performed primarily in Alexandria, Virginia and Colorado Springs, Colorado . The task order was awarded under the Information Technology Enterprise Solutions - 2 Services (ITES-2S) contract.

iPERMS enhances the Army's ability to store and access hundreds of millions of document images, replacing a labor intensive records management system based on paper documents and updateable microfiche. The system is used to maintain, retrieve, and transfer military personnel files, and provides on-line access and display of document images in a web-based environment. Under the task order, SAIC will provide services including program management, customer support, enterprise architecture and planning, information assurance and system integration.

"iPERMS enhances record quality, optimizes storage and retrieval, reduces operating costs, and provides an archived record in a viable electronic medium," said Larry Cox , SAIC senior vice president and business unit general manager. "We are pleased to support the Army in this critical program and look forward to fulfilling their personnel records needs as they evolve over the next 5 years."
