Archerfish delivers proactive, video-based information so consumers can keep an eye on the people and places that matter most, in a manner that fits today's connected, mobile lifestyle.
Developed with the TMS320DM6446 digital media processor based on DaVinci(TM) technology from Texas Instruments Incorporated (TI) (NYSE: TXN), Archerfish has been selected as an International CES 2009 Innovations Design and Engineering Award honoree, winning in the Integrated Home Systems product category.
Archerfish is the first consumer solution smart enough to 'watch' and analyze videos from cameras placed in one or more business or home locations for user-defined events, such as people, vehicles and objects, allowing users to know what's happening regardless of where they are physically located at a given time. If and only when a defined event occurs, Archerfish proactively notifies users with text and/or event video pushed to their email inbox or mobile phone. Unlike traditional video systems, Archerfish does not require users to watch video all day or rely on primitive motion alarms to monitor their businesses or homes. Archerfish was developed with the TMS320DM6446 digital media processor from TI, which leverages DaVinci technology to meet the networked media encode and decode application processing needs of next-generation embedded devices. The DM6446 enabled Cernium to quickly bring Archerfish to market, helping to provide high-quality video at optimal performance for fast and accurate image processing in a variety of light conditions. The dual-core architecture of the DM6446 incorporates TI's industry-leading, high-performance TMS320C64x+(TM) digital signal processor (DSP) core and an ARM926EJ-S core, providing OEMs and ODMs with robust operating systems support, rich user interfaces, high processing performance, and long battery life through the maximum flexibility of a fully integrated mixed processor solution.

Archerfish will be available to business and residential customers beginning in February 2009 . Available as a complete kit, the Archerfish solution will include two cameras, the Archerfish SmartBox, cables, power supplies and access to a personal web portal. The system can be professionally or self-installed and it can be combined with other sensors, such as fire, smoke or temperature systems, to provide more comprehensive mobile video intelligence.
