ATLANTA --

Atlanta police arrested one man in connection with a break-in at Maynard Jackson High School Monday morning and authorities said they were searching for several more people in connection with the crime.

Police said several suspects climbed to the second floor of the school on Glenwood Avenue, smashed out a window and made their way into the school's computer lab.

Investigators believe their arrival startled the burglars, so they dumped the computers and ran.

So far, police said they recovered four computers, but said a total of seven were stolen.

Police said as many as three men got into a getaway vehicle, but they left one man behind and police arrested him.

"Several suspects jumped into a black-colored Jeep and sped off. We were able to apprehend one suspect after a lengthy foot chase," said Officer Bryan French with the Atlanta Police Burglary Task Force.

Because of broken glass, police said the burglars received several cuts. Police told Channel 2 Action News reporter Kerry Kavanaugh that they will be able to gather DNA evidence from the blood.
