The City of David is the actual site of the biblical city of Jerusalem . The historic landmark draws tens of thousands of visitors yearly. To ensure visitor safety and prevent crime and vandalism, the City of David Foundation deployed more than 150 video cameras in the site. After a thorough competitive evaluation, the Foundation selected and deployed RADWIN's WinLink(TM) 1000 wireless point-to-point systems to transmit video from the cameras back to a central control center, from where a security team can detect and respond to events on the spot.

Dvir Kahana of the City of David Foundation, stated: "RADWIN's systems give us the freedom and flexibility to install cameras wherever needed while leaving the land of the historic site intact. The systems operate flawlessly in a challenging topography and in non-line-of-sight conditions, delivering high-quality video 24x7 from the cameras to the control center. This empowers us to monitor and react to unfolding events, thus ensuring visitor safety and deterring crime."

Each RADWIN link provides 18 Mbps net throughput, which enables aggregating traffic from a number of cameras and running multiple applications on the same link simultaneously. In addition to carrying surveillance transmission from strategic vantage points, this includes surveillance of all entryways and the opening and closing of gates to the compound, intercom communications via VoIP, and sending pan-tilt-zoom command signals to the cameras.

Pini Ben David , Project Manager, Mer Group , stated: "We chose RADWIN's WinLink(TM) 1000 systems because they are reliable, robust, and incorporate advanced features that help reduce radio interference which is abundant in the area because of the multiple radios that are deployed."

Roni Weinberg , RADWIN's COO, stated: "Surveillance networks that use RADWIN's equipment for surveillance transmission are designed, deployed and commissioned for a fraction of the time and cost of establishing a wired infrastructure, while providing an unparalleled level of safety and security."
