ADI Picks up VisualGate's Video over Powerline Systems

Systems can transmit surveillance video and audio over existing electrical infrastructure

Security and low-voltage products distributor ADI will be carrying VisualGate System's innovative "surveillance video over powerline" (SVoP) products; giving dealers and integrators a way to order the products without having to go direct to the manufacturer.

The technology essentially turns a building's existing electrical wiring into a video network, allowing not only video, but also audio and camera control signals to be transmitted. It's primarily been considered as an option for retrofitting surveillance systems into older buildings where cable pulls are not particularly feasible.

The system can work with both analog and IP systems, and the company's products include cameras, encoders, digital video recorders, video management software and line adapters.

Nick LaBella, director of product marketing for CCTV at ADI, said the choice to pick up VisualGate's technology was part of making sure "cutting edge" technology was available to the industry.
