Charlotte school's security system foils break-in

Aug. 14--The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools' security system foiled another break-in overnight, police say.

For the third time in a month, police arrested a suspect who they say had broken into a school. The previous cases took place at the new Mallard Creek High School and at Phillip O. Berry Academy.

This time, it was at Martin Luther King Jr. Middle School, on Bilmark Avenue, in northeast Charlotte.

Police say the alarm system alerted them shortly after 2:30 a.m. They took one suspect into custody.
