Acquisition to help expand HP’s ProCurve line

HP announced Tuesday that it has agreed to purchase Massachusetts-based Colubris Networks, a manufacturer of wireless networks for enterprises and service providers.

According to a statement issued by HP regarding the acquisition, the company plans to integrate Colubris’ product line into its ProCurve Network series of products. The company said that this will give ProCurve’s wireless technology the ability to reach other markets, such as hospitality, transportation, healthcare, manufacturing, and education.

In the same statement, HP Senior Vice President and General Manger Marius Haas said the deal will "strengthen ProCurve’s hardware, management, platform, and services" and added that he believed ProCurve’s growth potential is "unlimited."

The deal is expected to close near the end of HP’s fiscal year for 2008. Financial terms of the agreement have not been disclosed.
