Cernium Corporation Appoints Michael Dering to Board of Directors

RESTON, Va. , July 8 /PRNewswire/ -- Cernium Corporation, the leading developer of video analytics-enabled products, today announced the appointment of Michael Dering to its board of directors. A 25-year veteran of the technology industry, Mr. Dering will provide guidance and support as the company expands beyond its traditional markets.

Mr. Dering has held a number of management and leadership positions, most recently as president and chief executive officer of ServiceBench, Inc., a privately held corporation focused on optimizing the delivery of post-sale service by integrating the service supply chain to increase customer satisfaction and reduce costs. ServiceBench was a recent recipient of one of the Northern Virginia Technology Council's Hot Ticket awards, taking first place in the category "Hottest Exit." Mr. Dering has also served as chief executive officer of CrossAccess Corporation, a venture-backed software infrastructure company that focuses on integrating corporate business functions with new e-business applications. Prior to CrossAccess, he worked as president and chief executive officer of two Bell & Howell companies. While at Bell & Howell Mail and Messaging Technologies (MMT), Mr. Dering doubled the company's earnings and grew its revenue to a record high $500 million. In his role at Bell & Howell Publishing Services Division (PSC), Mr. Dering led the successful launch of its European operation and implemented a focused sales program that resulted in increased market share. Previously, Mr. Dering had a 20-year tenure at TAB Products Company, a $170 million publicly traded manufacturer of information storage and retrieval solutions for office environments.

Mr. Dering holds multiple board positions including the Bridgeborm, eXpresso, Washington Management Group/CCS and Mindshare. He received a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration and Computer Science from the University of Maryland.
